Dexter Board of Education regular meeting minutes for Tuesday, July 19, 2022

Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge:  

The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members, with all members being present with the exception of Mr. Jon Thompson and Mr. Ron Glaus, who attended via electronically.  The Board President leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Consent Agenda:  The consent agenda was approved.

Public Comments: There were no registered guests.    

Old Business:  There was no old business.  

New Business: 

A.  The board approved an agreement with Bootheel Counseling Services for a School Based Therapist for the 22-23 school year.  

Discussion Items: The following items were discussed with the board:

A.  The next regular board meeting is scheduled for August 25, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.   The annual tax rate hearing will be held at 5:50 PM.  

In Closed Session:  

1.  The board approved the hiring of the following substitute teachers for the 22-23 school year:

2.  The board approved the following transfer within the special services department at Southwest for the 22-23 school year:

        Casie Layton    

3.  The board approved the hiring of the following individuals for the 22-23 school year pending favorable background checks and appropriate certification. 

Summer Crowder-Assistant MS Girls Basketball Coach

Bill Hemby-Volunteer Assistant Middle School Football Coach

Peggy Potts-Speech/Language Pathologist at Southwest

4.  The board approved opening a position for an assistant girls tennis coach due to the increased participation over the last several years.  

5 .  The following items were discussed with the board:

Legal update:

COVID leave for the 22-23 school year.  At this time, covid leave concluded on June 30, 2022.
