In Memory of Janie Battles

Janie Battles, daughter of the late Clarence Renfro and Lula Mae White Renfro, was born on January 10, 1948, in Caraway, Arkansas, and departed this life on June 23, 2022, at her residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 74 years.

Mrs. Battles was the first female police officer for Blytheville, Arkansas, and the former city collector for Blytheville. She was of the Christian faith, enjoyed quilting and reading her bible.

She was united in marriage to Richard Battles. Mr. Battles preceded her in death on January 24, 1986.

She is survived by two sons, Curtis Scott Crawford and wife Christina of Dexter, Missouri and Clayton Jay Crawford of Dexter, Missouri; by her daughter, Ashley LeAnne Boham and husband Johnny of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, Jack Renfro of Dallas, Texas and Lamar Renfro of Steele, Missouri; by her granddaughter, Brittany Aldridge of Blytheville, Arkansas; by her grandson, Christian Crawford of Dexter, Missouri; by her great-granddaughter, Leah Grace Martinez of Blytheville, Arkansas; and by her great-grandson, Brayden Crawford of Blytheville, Arkansas.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and seven sisters.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
