Barbara Jean Owens, daughter of the late Earl Slaughter and Pauline Kester Slaughter, was born on July 15, 1947, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on May 27, 2022, at her residence in Dexter at the age of 74 years.

Mrs. Owens was a member of the First Christian Church in Dexter, and she was a homemaker.

On June 27, 1964, in Dexter, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Wayne Owens. Mr. Owens survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Ken Owens and wife Shannon of Dexter, Missouri; and Brian Owens of Dexter, Missouri; by her daughter, Kim Greer and husband Tracy of Sedalia, Missouri; by her sister, Shirley Medlin of Wappapello, Missouri; by seven grandchildren, Thad Owens, Spencer Owens, Jessica Greer, Jacqueline Greer, Olivia Johnson, Taylor Hutson, and Katelynn Owens; and by her great-grandchild, Parker Greer.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Slaughter, and by her sister, Margaret Ward.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Williams officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
