2022 SCAA JH Baseball Tournament Seeds Released

The 2022 Stoddard County Athletic Association (SCAA) Junior High Baseball Tournament seeds have been released.

Bernie earned the #1 seed and a bye in the first round.

Dexter received the #2 seed followed by #3 Woodland, #4 Bloomfield, #5 Puxico, and #6 Advance.

Dexter also received a bye in the first round.

Bloomfield will play Puxico on Saturday, April 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Bloomfield.

Woodland will play Advance also on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Woodland

On Monday, Bernie will host the winner of the Bloomfield/Puxico game at 4:30 p.m.

Also on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Dexter will host the winner of Woodland/Advance 

Third place game will be on Tuesday, May 3rd at 4:30 p.m. at the higher seed.

Championship will also be on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the higher seed location.

2022 SCAA Junior High Softball Tournament Seeds Released

Bernie, MO - The 2022 Stoddard County Athletic Association (SCAA) Junior High Softball Tournament seeds have been announced.

Bloomfield earned the #1 seed and received a bye in the first round.

Advance is #2 followed by #3 Bernie, #4 Puxico, and #5 Richland.  Dexter and Bell City do not have junior high softball teams.

All games will be played at Bernie on Saturday, April 30th with a time limit for each to be 90 minutes long except the championship game.  There is no limite for that game.

Puxico will face Richland at 9 a.m.  

Advance will play Bernie at 11:00 a.m.

Bloomfield will play the winner of the Puxico/Richland game at 1:00 p.m.

The 3rd place game will be at 3:00 p.m.

Championship game will be at 5:00 p.m.

DMS Baseball Team Wins East Prairie Tournament

East Prairie, Missouri - The Dexter T.S. Hill Middle School baseball team traveled to East Prairie to compete in a tournament over the weekend. 

They defeated New Madrid County Central Middle School 13-3 and Bernie Middle School 6-5 to be the 2022 East Prairie JH Baseball Tournament Champions.

Gibson Booker gave the NMCC Middle School fits on Saturday as he bagged four hits in the Bearcats 13-3 victory .  Booker singled in the first, doubled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the fourth.

The Bearcats got things moving in the first inning when Booker singled on the first pitch of the at bat scoring one run.

The Eagles evened things up at two in the bottom of the first inning.  Moore singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Dexter notched six runs in the fourth inning.  Their offense came from singles by Carter Stone, Will Guethle, and Booker and an error on a ball put in play by Logan Fritch and Justus Lovelady.

Booker pitched Dexter to earn the win.  The left hander allowed four hits and two runs over three and a third innings, striking out seven.  Judd Robinson threw one and two thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Pipkin too the loss for NMCC allowing 18 hits and 13 runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one.

Final Score Dexter 13, NMCC 3

In the championship game the Dexter Bearcats were victorious over the Bernie Mules with a 6-5 walk-off victory.  The game was tied at five when Carter Stone singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

The Bearcats tallied four runs in the sixth inning.  The offensive firepower was led by Jaxon Miller, Houston Neely, Justus Lovelady, and Gibson Booker, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Lovelady led the Bearcats to victory on the mound.  He went one inning, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one.

Stoner took the loss for Bernie.  He allowed one hit and one run walking one.

Vaughn started the game for Bernie allowing four hits and one run over four innings, striking out four.

Will Guethle started the game for the Bearcats surrendering two runs on three hits over six innings, striking out five.

Dexter had ten hits in the game.  Stone , Miller, Booker, and Guethle each collected multiple hits.  

Final Score Dexter 6, Bernie 5

Dexter Tennis Team Donates Money to 18ForeLife

The Dexter Tennis team hosted Jackson in its 4th Annual Courts for Cancer event.   

$800.00 to Gavin Miller, Asst. Supt of Schools for Dexter who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

$600.00 to 18ForeLife

$400.00 to Kids of Friends with Cancer

$600.00 to SmileTrain (cleft palate charity)

The team also wore black armbands for Dexter Statesman's long time sports editor, Kyle Smith, who passed away on March 12, 2022.

"This has been our most successful Courts for Cancer fundraiser so far," commented Boles. "Thank you all so much for supporting our teams and this wonderful cause."

2022 Swing Pink Softball Tournament Quite the Success

Dexter, MO - The Lady Cats 2022 Swing Pink Softball Tournament was held on Saturday, April 23rd with 16 teams in attendance.

Pool A included Neelyville, Twin Rivers, Oran and Holcomb.

Pool B included Doniphan, Clearwater, Risco, and East Prairie.

Pool C included Meadow Heights, Greenville, Van Buren and Bernie.

Pool D included Clarkton, Senath, Bloomfield and Dexter.

Bernie, Van Buren, and Greenville all tied for their pool.  Dexter won their pool.

Dexter defeated Clarkton 15-0 to start off the tournament.  They beat Senath-Hornersville 6-3 and shut-out Bloomfield 13-0 to win their pool.

The Swing Pink Softball Tournament began in 2013. 

"It's just a great environment and there are not a lot of tournaments in the spring for softball," stated Starla Pulley.  "The girls love it and seeing 16 teams come together to raise money for cancer is just wonderful."
