Dexter Golf Team Finishes 3rd, Two Golfers Earn Medals at Jackson Invitational

Jackson, MO - The Dexter Golf Team did not take Monday off.  They traveled to Jackson and competed in the Jackson Golf Invitational.  The team finished in 3rd place with a total of 338 points.

Alex Wiseman, Poplar Bluff, won with a score of 73.

Poplar Bluff won the Invitational with a total of 318 points.  Jackson finished in 2nd place with a total of 320 points.

Cy Worley medaled with a score of 79 and tied for 6th place with Evan Adams of Jackson.

Dylan Sitze medaled with a score of 80 and tied for 8th place with Andrew Henson of Jackson.

Ben Christian finished with a score of 85 and tied for 16th place.

Matt Hardin tied for 37th place and Tucker Temples tied for 40th place.

Dexter Lady Cats Knock-Out Lady Wildcats in SCAA Softball Tournament

Advance, MO - Due to rain the Dexter vs Bloomfield SCAA Softball Tournament game was moved from Puxico High School to Advance High School.  The Dexter Lady Cats weathered a push by the Wildcats in the 5th inning.  The Bearcats won 15-4 on Monday afternoon.

The Lady Cats fired up the offense in the first inning when Molly Simmons drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the third Simmons grounded out, scoring two runs, Kayle Hazel singled on a 0-1 count, scoring another run, and Laramore grounded out, scoring yet another run.  They scored four runs in the third inning and never looked back.

The Lady 'Cats secured their victory in the first round of the SCAA Tournament in the fourth inning scoring ten runs.   Alexis Sisk, Lexi Laramore, Abbie Sandage, Amelia Jenkins, Hazel, and Simmons all moved runners across the plate with RBIs.

Jenkins led the Bearcats to victory in the circle.  The right-hander lasted five innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out 12.

Kinley Chappell, Emily Hester, Hazel, and Jenkins each collected one hit.  

The Lady Cats tore up the base paths, as two players tole at least two bases and Jenkins led the way with three stolen bases.

#25 Karsynn Phillips led the Bloomfield Wildcats with two hits in three at bats.

Final Score  Dexter 15, Bloomfield 4

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Tennis team hosted Jackson in its 4th Annual Courts for Cancer event.   

$800.00 to Gavin Miller, Asst. Supt of Schools for Dexter who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

$400.00 to Kids of Friends with Cancer

$600.00 to SmileTrain (cleft palate charity)

The team also wore black armbands for Dexter Statesman's long time sports editor, Kyle Smith, who passed away on March 12, 2022.

"This has been our most successful Courts for Cancer fundraiser so far," commented Boles. "Thank you all so much for supporting our teams and this wonderful cause."

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Tennis Team honored Kyle Smith, Dexter Statesman's long time sports editor, who recently passed away on assignment in Springfield, Missouri.  The boys wore black armbands in his memory.

Dexter Tennis Hosts 4th Annual Courts for Cancer Against Jackson

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Tennis team hosted Jackson in its 4th Annual Courts for Cancer event.  Jackson defeated Dexter 7-2

"Many of the matches were very close," stated Eric Boles, boys tennis coach. "Jackson closed better than Dexter did, but we had two players walk away with singles wins."

"We really saw our freshmen take another positive step forward in both doubles and singles," continued Boles. "This young team is getting better and better with each week of competition."
