In Memory of Gloria Blough

Gloria Blough, daughter of the late Cecil Sipes and Ella Brasfield Sipes, was born on November 15, 1936, in Holland, Arkansas, and departed this life on January 7, 2022, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.

Mrs. Blough was a former employee of Purolator in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

On January 22, 1955, in Hernando, Mississippi, she was united in marriage to Tom Blough. Mr. Blough preceded her in death on February 20, 2011.

She is survived by three sons, Michel Blough of Pyle Town, Greg Blough and wife Amy of Bernie, and Randy Blough of Dexter; by her daughter, Tammy Harms of Summersville; by four grandchildren, Latesha, Jessica, Matt and Elicia; and by seven great-grandchildren, Lauren, Mya, Parris, Charles, Luke, Kesley, and Marlie.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Sipes, Bud Sipes, and Joe Webster; by four sisters, Barbara Stearns, Juanita Mosley, Pauline Warren, and Lola Sipes; and by her grandson, Jonathan.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Betty Jean Mattingly

Betty Jean Mattingly of Dudley, Missouri, daughter of the late James (Lewis) Franklin Moore and Artie Pearl (Andrews) Moore born on March 01, 1936 in Dudley, Missouri and passed away on January 09, 2022 in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 85 years.

She lived in Dudley all of her life.  Betty enjoyed sewing, making quilts, knitting and loved flowers.  She was in the Masonic Lodge Order of the Eastern Star.  Betty was an active member of Hobbs Chapel Methodist Church.  She loved being a mother, grandma and great grandma.  Her home was open to everyone and she absolutely love entertaining.  She touched so many and raised them all just like her own.  

Betty married the love of her life and absolute soul mate, Wiley L Mattingly of Dudley, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 2008.    

Betty is survived by one son James JW and Lauren Mattingly of Puxico, Missouri; one daughter Melissa (Missy) Wood of Puxico, Missouri; five grandchildren Casey, Jessica, Jerri, Reese and Della; nine great grandchildren Sophia, Zachary, Jack, Haley, Jeffery, Destiny, Brooklyn, Damion and Freya; one brother James (Jim) Franklin and Welda Moore of Dudley, Missouri; two really great friends Cindy Rhodes of Puxico, Missouri and Audrey Payne of Puxico, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her parents James (Lewis) and Artie Moore.  A host of family and friends also survive.   

Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 11, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday January 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri with Brother David Dee officiating and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements. 

Interment will follow at the Hobbs Chapel Cemetery in Dudley, Missouri.

In Memory of Sherry Deannia Blunt

Sherry Deannia Blunt, daughter of the late Martin Blunt and Dorotha Stoker Blunt was born on August 20, 1964 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on January 7, 2022 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, at the age of 57 years.

Ms. Blunt was a former payroll specialist for P.T. I. at Sikeston. Sherry was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter for twenty-five years where she was a devoted member of the Worship Team and Teen Leaders.

She is survived by three sons, Steve Hyten and wife Brandi of Dexter, Justin Hyten and husband Marco of Manchester, Tennessee, and Jacob Hyten of Jackson, by one daughter; Bethany Quertermous and husband Brandon of Dexter: by one brother, Ronny Blunt of Dexter: by one sister; Kathy Ivy of Dexter and by several nieces and nephews.

Other than by her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Stanley Blunt, and Robert Blunt, and by one sister Debbie Blunt.

Visitation will be held at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter, Missouri on Tuesday January 11, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at the Lighthouse Christian Center on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sadler Chapel Cemetery.

In Memory of Lagena Fay Pfeffer

Lagena Fay Pfeffer, daughter of the late Deward Cook and Rosie Gregory Cook, was born on December 19, 1938, in Murray, Kentucky, and departed this life on January 6, 2022, at her residence in Dudley, Missouri, at the age of 83 years.

Mrs. Pfeffer was born and raised in Murray, Kentucky. She graduated from New Concord High School and attended business college in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a former tax preparer at H&R Block in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and she was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ in Dexter, Missouri. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and participated in the World Bible School.

While in college Lagena met the love of her life, Wendell Pfeffer. It was love at first sight and they were married on July 16, 1957, in Murray, Kentucky. Lagena and Wendell were married for 64 years and raised five children in a loving, Christian home. Mr. Pfeffer survives of their home in Dudley.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Mike Pfeffer and wife Paula of Dexter, Missouri, Philip Pfeffer and wife Heather of Scott City, Missouri, Greg Pfeffer and wife Sharon of Dexter, Missouri; by two daughters, Shari McConnell and husband Mac of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Karen Sagaskey and husband David of Wynne, Arkansas; by two brothers, Donald Cook and wife Dorothy of Murray, Kentucky and Ronnie Cook and wife Charlotte of Murray, Kentucky; and by seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Milton.

Visitation will be held at the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at the Dexter Church of Christ on Monday, January 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie, Missouri.

Timothy married Terra Leigh Cagle on August 22, 1997 in Ripley, Tennessee.    

Timothy is survived by his wife Terra Thompson; three sons Timmy Randall Thompson of St. Louis, Missouri, Austin Michael Thompson of St. Louis, Missouri and Chandlor Andrew Thompson of Columbia, Missouri; three daughters Taylor Nicole Thompson of Dallas, Texas, Emily Blake Thompson of Indianapolis, Indiana and Abigail Grace Thompson of Dexter, Missouri; two grandchildren Alyssa Pitts of Dallas, Texas and Violet (Purple) Dean of Indianapolis, Indiana; two brothers Jesse Long of St. Charles, Missouri and Curtis Long of Bonne Terre, Missouri; one sister Donna Jean Kinworthy of St. Louis, Missouri; mother and father in law Terry and Linda Cagle of Dexter, Missouri; many nieces and nephews and his faithful K-9 friend Thea.  Timothy is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Norma Thompson Sr.; one brother Donald Thompson Jr. and one sister Sharon Day.  A host of family and friends also survive.   

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 08, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday January 08, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Brother Charlie Robertson officiating and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
