Noah James Smith of Essex, Missouri son of Christopher “Chris” Lee and Kirsten Faith (Bronander) Smith passed away on December 19, 2021.
Noah is survived by his parents Chris and Kirsten Smith; two brothers Andrew Smith of Essex, Missouri and Kezden Smith of Essex, Missouri; one sister Mackenzie Smith of Essex, Missouri; several Aunts, uncles and cousins; paternal grandparents Greg and Zenita Smith of Essex, Missouri and maternal grandparents Paul and Debbie Bronader of Festus, Missouri. A host of family also survives Noah.
Graveside Services will be held Wednesday December 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with Brother Ian Crump of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the New Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri.

Kim Sherfield, daughter of the late Jerry Johnson and Velma Corbin Johnson, was born on June 30, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life on December 16, 2021, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 62 years.
Mrs. Sherfield was a former cook for the Hickory Log in Dexter, Missouri, and a resident of rural Essex, Missouri. Kim enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and she enjoyed being on her computer and communicating with her friends online.
On June 29, 1975, in Dexter, Missouri, she was united in marriage to David Sherfield. Mr. Sherfield preceded her in death on April 5, 2018.
She is survived by her daughter, April Gensler of Essex; by three sons, Joshua Sherfield and wife LaVonda of Essex, Joseph Sherfield and wife Robyn of Bloomfield, and Benjamin Stoker and wife Christy of Essex; by her brother, Kenneth Johnson and wife Kim of Bloomfield; and by eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Roy Sherfield officiating.

Jimmie Dale Moore, son of the late James William Moore and Katie Sprinkle Moore, was born on February 3, 1945, in Pyletown, Missouri, and departed this life on December 20, 2021, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.
Mr. Moore was a former farmer and had worked for the International Hat Factory in Dexter.
On October 12, 1963, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Betty Mae Gaines. Mrs. Moore preceded him in death on September 7, 2015.
He is survived by his son, Jimmie Moore Jr. and wife Rhonda of Dexter, Missouri; by his brother, Johnny Ray Moore of Cabot, Arkansas; by two grandchildren, Brandon Moore and wife Bethany of Romance, Arkansas, and Justin Moore of Dexter, Missouri; and by two great-granddaughters, Evelyn Mae Moore and Josephine Lilly Moore.
Other than by his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James R. Moore, William C. Moore, and Franklin E. Moore; and by three sisters, Emma Jane Bledsoe, Clara Bell Moore, and Helen J. Jennings.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

James Charles Barber was born in Harmony, Arkansas on March 18, 1931 to Charles Isaac Barber and Stella Mae Stepp Barber, He departed this life on December 16, 2021 at the age of 90 in Dexter, Missouri. He was raised on farms in Arkansas and then Missouri. Upon finishing high school, he fulfilled his patriotic duty by joining the US Army where he would serve for over 20 years.
Jay met and married the love of his life while stationed overseas in Europe. He was married to Hildegard (Helen) Buttner on May 18, 1956 in Fontainbleau, France until her death on October 22, 1996. Together they were blessed with six daughters who survive him: Ingrid (Brett) Williamson of Essex, MO; Christine (Marty) Young of Dexter, MO; Susan Barber of Dexter, MO; Kathy (Mike) McGhee of Van Buren, MO; Peggy (Kevin) Evans of Essex, MO; and Patty Barber May of Dexter, MO.
He is also survived by grandchildren: Jonathan WIlliamson; Kendra (David) Haas; Kaleigh (Dillon) Cordia; Parker (Kaleigh) Evans; Kelsey (Lofton) Hayes; Rilee Jones; Chase (Morgan) Young; Chandler Young; and Alexis May along with great-grandchildren: Logan, Harrison, Carter, Brady, James, Drake, Jon, Nate, Kennedy, Delaney, Clara May, Stella, Gracie, Drew and Hudson. His sister, Avis Hupp of Sikeston and his brother, Jerry (Glenda) Barber of Dexter also survive along with his brothers-in-law, Horst Buttner and Helmut (Rosi) Buttner and sister-in-law Inge Buttner of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Louis, Eugene, Seaborn, Clinton and Bob Barber along with brothers-in-law Heinz and Walter Buttner and great granddaughter, Elizabeth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends - locally, across the USA, and overseas.
Like many young soldiers in wartime, Jay found comfort in his Christian faith and was baptized into Christ by a fellow American soldier while he was held captive as a prisoner of war by the Chinese during the Korean War for 999 days. He remained in the Army upon his release and lived in several places in the US and Europe. Later he also saw combat action in Vietnam where he was wounded. He received the Purple Heart and other awards and citations for his military service.
After retiring from the Army, Jay and his family settled in Essex, MO where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Elk Township until his retirement. He loved raising his family and grew a big garden for many years. He was known to give away a variety of vegetables and pecans to many family members and others every year. Jay also impressed many local farmers with his one row of cotton each year which he planted and baled himself.
Jay and Helen loved to travel. Each year they would go somewhere they hadn’t been before and revisit old favorites as long as they were able. For many years he was active in the Former Korean War POW organization along with other organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, DAV, Eagles, Elks and the Republican Party.
Services will be conducted at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, MO on Sunday, December 19, 2021 with visitation from noon until 3 PM followed by the funeral service at 3 PM.
Pastor Justin Sponaugle of Faith Lutheran Church will lead the services.
Burial with full military honors will follow at the Essex Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Haas, Dillon Cordia, Parker Evans, Lofton Hayes, Chase Young, Chandler Young, Harrison Pennington, Carter Pennington, and Logan Williamson.
Memorials may be made to the local Stars & Stripes Museum or the local Disabled American Veterans or a charity of your choice.
