DHS 2021 Spring First Time Letter Recipients

Twenty-six athletes were named first-time letter winners at the Dexter High School spring sports recognition program May 6 at the high school auditorium. Names are organized by sport. BASEBALL: Andrew Dodson, Reece Justice, Josh Kaufman, Clay Prance, Adam Saylors, Seth Teel and Brock Wyman. BOYS GOLF: Matt Hardin, Alyssa Warren and Ethan Zabelin. BOYS TENNIS: Peyton Boles, Drew Chamberlain, Drake Channell and Logan Jones. SOFTBALL: Kinleigh Chappell, Kaylee Hazel, Alexis Ingram, Amelia Jenkins and Tatyana Little-Whiteman. TRACK AND FIELD: Tristan Bryant, Levi Dement, Chase Farmer, RJ Farmer, Marie Fees, Maddie Glaus and Anistin Kyle.

DHS 2021 Spring Recognition Program

Dexter High School held its spring sports recognition program May 6 at the high school auditorium.

FRONT ROW, FROM LEFT: Hannah Pyles, Amelia Jenkins and Logan Jones. BACK ROW: Ryan Collier, Riley Slusher, Ryder Boles, Peyton Boles and Peyton Driskill.

BASEBALL

Riley Slusher won the batting average award. Peyton Driskill was voted the team’s MVP.

TRACK AND FIELD

Gabby Brown was named the female athlete of the year. The top male athlete will be announced following the season.

BOYS TENNIS

Ryder Boles was the team’s top singles player, and Ryder and Peyton Boles won the team’s doubles award. 

Logan Jones was named most improved player.

BOYS GOLF

Ryan Collier won the team’s lone award as season medalist, averaging 38.9 strokes on a nine-hole course.

SOFTBALL

Kennedy Bess posted the team’s top batting average, hitting .531 with a team-high 26 RBIs.

Hannah Pyles received the dedication award. She finished with four triples and two doubles.

Amelia Jenkins was named MVP, after setting a school record for strikeouts in a season (147 over 91 2/3 innings).

Bearcat Volleyball Camp Scheduled for May 25-27th

Dexter, MO - Coach Starla Pulley and her awesome team of recruits will once again offer Summer Bearcat Volleyball Camp on May 25th - 27th at the Bearcat Event Center.

The camp is available for student athletes in grades 3 - 8. (Grades they will enter next year 2021-2022)

Third - fifth grades will be 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. and 6th - 8th grades will be 10:30 - 12:30 p.m.

The camp will feature team concepts, passing/defensive instruction, serving instruction, setting instruction, hitting/blocking (upper grades), ability/age grouping, contests, and games, and a camp t-shirt.

Cost is $25.  Checks made payable to Dexter HIgh School.

Please contact Coach Starla Pulley before Friday, May 15th.  T-shirt orders will be made that day to allow ample time to complete the order for the day of the camp.  You can register at the door the first day of camp; however you may not receive a t-shirt.

MSHSAA Class 1, District 1 Boys Tennis Tournament

Cape Girardeau, MO - Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau is the host site for the MSHSAA Class 1, District 1 Boys Tennis Team Tournament.

Other schools participating with Notre Dame are Arcadia Valley High School, Dexter High School, North County High School, and Potosi High School.

Notre Dame's Tennis Team earned the #1 seed followed by #2 North County, #3 Arcadia Valley, #4 Dexter, and #5 Potosi.

Notre Dame received a bye in the first round. 

Dexter will face Potosi at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 10th.  The winner will play Notre Dame on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

On Tuesday, #2 North County will face #3 Arcadia Valley at 4 p.m.

Championship will be on Tuesday, May 12th at 4 p.m. at Notre Dame High School.
