In Memory of Thomas June Watkins

Thomas June Watkins of Dexter, Missouri born to the late Floyd and Lois (Smith) Watkins on March 23, 1938 and  passed away August 31, 2021 at the Dexter Living Center in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 83 years.  

Thomas had lived in the Swinton, Missouri area until moving with his parents to Bloomfield, Missouri in 1960.  In 2004 Thomas and his mom Lois moved to Dexter Living Center, a place they called home until their passing.  He attended the Church of Christ.  Thomas and him mom enjoyed frequent trips to McDonalds for hamburgers and coke floats, his favorite food.  Thomas and his dad enjoyed frequent trips to salvage yards in and around Stoddard County.  He loved anything with wheels and all things John Wayne.

Thomas is survive by all that knew and loved him, he will be greatly missed.    

Graveside Services will be held on Friday September 03, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Cemetery with Vernon Allen of Dexter, Missouri officiating.  Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Interment will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery North West of Bloomfield, Missouri.

In Memory of Mary F. Vincent

Mary F. Vincent of  Dexter, Missouri passed away at St. Francis Medical Center on August 27, 2021 she was born  August 8, 1956 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Billie Jo Rhoem Parsons. Mary lived in Poplar Bluff before moving to Dexter, Missouri in 1989. Mary enjoyed shopping, camping, and working with her flowers.

Mary married the love of her life Ray Vincent on November 17, 1974 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Mary is survived by one daughter, Michelle Robbins of  Dexter, Missouri; twos son Luther Ray Vincent Jr. and Joshua Vincent both of  Dexter, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; one sister Libby Morgan of Litchfield, Illinois and one brother Jimmy Lowder of Benton, Tennessee; A host relatives and friends survive. She is preceded in death by her mother Billie Jo Parsons, husband Luther Vincent Sr., son Ronnie Vincent, one brother Ronnie Lowder.  

Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 on day , 202 at Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter, Missouri with Tim Russell officiating with Watkins and Sons Funeral Services of Dexter in charge of the arrangements.

In Memory of Gary Van Milam

Gary Van Milam, son of James David “JD” and Nellie Mae Milam, was born April 7, 1951, in Marshall, Arkansas and went home to the Lord, reunited with his wife, Linda, August 30, 2021, at their residence in Bloomfield, Missouri, at the age of 70 years.

Gary was proud of his family, he often spoke about the adventures Dason, Grace, Grannie and he had through the years. Gary was a proud Veteran of the US Navy, serving as a jet airframe mechanic during the Vietnam War. He loved his country, flag, and service. He spent his remaining work years as a Steel Worker at Noranda Aluminum.

He is survived by his mother-in-law Audrey Hensley of Harrison, Arkansas; by son, Brad V. Milam; by grandson, Dason James Milam; by granddaughter, Olivia Grace Milam, all of Dexter; He leaves behind brothers Mike (Melissa) Milam of New Madrid, Missouri and Tom Milam of Portageville, Missouri; and by sister Patricia (Tom) Drummond of Fenton, Missouri. Brothers-in-law Steve (Coeta) Hensley of Valley Springs, Arkansas and Jeff Hensley of Harrison, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Brenda (Larry) Wheeler of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Sheron (Kyle) Sisco of Western Grove, Arkansas and Alisa Morris of Harrison, Arkansas, Sue Hensley of Harrison, Arkansas. Gary would also want mentioned he and Linda’s beloved puppy, Sparky.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife Linda, his father, James David “JD” Milam, his mother, Nellie Mae Milam, his father-in-law, Dason Floyd Hensley, and his brother-in-law, David Hensley.

Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, September 3, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Jamie Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery at 3:00 pm with full military honors.

In Memory of Bertalee Jane Hamlin

Bertalee Jane Hamlin of Wappapello, Missouri was born to the late Paul and 

Rada (Elledge) Hale on May 10, 1937 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and passed away August 25, 2021 in Puxico, Missouri at the age of 84 years. 

Bertalee married James Hamlin on March 11, 1957 in Arab, Missouri until his death on March 07, 2021.  She was of the General Baptist faith.  She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, gardening, raising live stock and studying home remedies.      

Bertalee is survived by one son Randy (Kelly) Hamlin of Lucas, Texas; one granddaughter Jennifer Hamlin of Lucas, Texas; one great grandson Landry Lewallen of Lucas, Texas She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Rada Hale and her husband James Hamlin.  A host of family and friends also survive.  

Visitation will be Wednesday September 01, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.  

Funeral Service will be Wednesday September 01, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Ray Placher officiating at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. 

Interment will follow at the Womack Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri. 

With Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Michael Dewain Norman Jr

Michael Dewain Norman Jr., son of Michael Norman Sr. of Dexter, Missouri and the late Sarah Stroud Swaringam, was born on February 21, 1983, in Sikeston, Missouri and departed this life on August 29, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at the age of 38 years.

Michael was a resident of Dexter and enjoyed camping at Cloud Nine Ranch.

On February 13, 2010, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Stacey Pennington.

He is survived by his wife, Stacey Norman of Dexter; by his father, Michael Norman Sr. of Dexter; by two sons, Blake Norman and Mason Norman; by two daughters, Ariana Norman and Michelle Reeves; by his brother, Joseph Morgan of St. James, Missouri; and by his sister, Rebekah Little of Springfield, Missouri.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
