Dexter, MO - The Dexter R-1 School Board met in a regularly scheduled meeting on August 24, 2021.  They also held a Tax Rate Hearing.  Below are the minutes from Amy James, Superintendent of Dexter School District.

Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge:  The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members, with all board members present.  The Board President leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Consent Agenda:  The consent agenda was approved.

Approve tax rate for the 2021-2022 school year: The tax rate approved was $3.5812.  The tax rate is unchanged from the previous year.  

Public Comments:  Mr. C.E. Tuley addressed the board of education.   

Old Business:  

There was no old business to discuss.  

New Business: 

A. The board approved 2021-2022 budget amendments for August.  The amendments included; a one time setup fee to GBS, Inc. + $5.00 per employee, per month for the Flexible Spending costs.  The 2nd amendment involved movement of money between Fund 1 and Fund 4 in the amount of $2,300, for a MS expenditure.

A. The Next Regular Board Meeting was set for Tuesday, September 28th at 6:00 p.m.

2. The board approved hiring of the following individuals for the 21-22 school year pending favorable background checks and appropriate certification:

Erika Jones - Will be working as a paraprofessional at Southwest Elementary. 

Robin Moore-Will be working as a paraprofessional at Central Elementary.  

Charlotte Harty-Will be working as a paraprofessional Central Elementary. 

Megan Denkins-Will be working as a paraprofessional at Southwest Elementary.  

Leann Burns-Will be working as a paraprofessional at Southwest Elementary.

Angie Wilson-Will be working as a 2nd grade teacher.  

Sheri Ratliff-Will be working part-time as a building aide at Central Elementary.  

Patricia Jenkins-Will be working part-time as a building aide at Central Elementary.

Shirley Potter-Will be working as a paraprofessional at Central Elementary.

Jessica Frazier-Will be working as a paraprofessional at Southwest Elementary.  

3. The board approved the following transfers for the 2021-2022 school year:

Shelly Leonard from 2nd grade teacher to SW computer teacher.  

Shelly Leonard to SW website administrator.

4. The board approved the following resignations for the 2021-2022 school year:

Hannah Hale-Paraprofessional at SW Elementary.  

Lauren Brown-Paraprofessional at SW Elementary.  

Madison Adams-Paraprofessional to begin August 20, 2021.

Micah Smiley-Bus driver to begin on August 20, 2021.

5. The board approved an out-of-district admission application.  

6. A COVID update was presented to the board.  

7. An update on open positions was presented to the board.
