Bloomfield School Board of Education Minutes for August 9, 2021

Bloomfield, MO - The Bloomfield School Board of Education met in a regularly scheduled meeting on August 9th.  Below are the minutes submitted by Toni Hill, Superintendent.

The board held the tax rate hearing and the regular August board meeting last night.  The board approved  a $3.36 tax rate levy for the year.  This is consistent with previous years. 

During the regular session, the board approved:

1.  the special education compliance plan

2.  the conflict of interest policy BBFA

3.  the full maintenance service agreement with MSBA

4.  the Hazel Health MOU and data services plan

5.  the detailed engineering study of the ag shop addition

During the regular session, the board also discussed the 2021-22 school year and were updated on summer projects.

During the executive session, the board:

1.  approved the substitute list

2.  hired Lesley Eby as part time high school art teacher for the 2021-22 school year

3.  hired Grady Leimbach as Junior High baseball coach

Bernie, MO - The Bernie School Board of Education met in a regular session meeting on August 9, 2021.  Below are the notes from that meeting.

The Board of Education held their annual Tax Rate Hearing before the start of the regular school board meeting on Monday the 9th day of August.  The tax rate in the General fund was set at $2.9705 .  The tax rate in the Debt Service Fund was held at $.30.

The Principals gave their building reports and Mr. Hicks gave a facility update.  Mr. Hicks announced school opening at an operational level 1 and discussed the ESSER III budget application.

The Board approved Program Evaluations on School Climate and Summer School.  

The Board accepted the 2020/21 Annual Secretary of Board Report.

Lindsay Beaird presented changes to the Local Compliance Plan and the Board of Education approved the Plan as presented.  

The Board approved the financial statement and bills were authorized for payment.

During Executive session, Superintendent Goals were reviewed.

The Board hired Taylor McCallister as a part time custodian.

The substitute employee list for the 2021/2022 school year was approved.

The Board approved adding Darrin Shipman, Brandi Stanley and Dylan Johnson to the Substitute listing.  

The next meeting of the Board will be Monday, September 13, 2021.

Dexter Middle School Beginning Band Camp

Dexter Public Schools will hold this year’s beginning band camp next week, from Monday, July 26 through Friday, July 30.  This event is for all students who will be entering sixth grade band in the 2021-22 school year. Classes will be held Monday through Friday in the band room at T.S. Hill Middle School; times vary depending on which instrument the student is playing.  Below is the schedule for each instrument:

8:30 a.m. – 9:20 a.m. Tuba and all Saxophones

9:30 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. Trumpet and Flute

10:30 a.m. – 11:20 a.m. Trombone, Baritone, and Clarinet

1:00 p.m. – 1:50 p.m. French Horn and Percussion

2:00 p.m. – 2:50 p.m. Bassoon

Attendance at band camp is very important to instill proper fundamentals for the beginning instrumentalist.  It is vital to set good playing and practice habits from the start.  Students will have smaller learning groups to help address their individual needs.

Dexter School Board Meeting Held July 20, 2021

Dexter, MO - The Dexter School Board met in a regular meeting on July 20, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.  Below are the minutes from that meeting made available by Superintendent Amy James.

Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge:  The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members.  Board member; Mr. Jon Thompson and administrator, Mr. Gavin Miller were absent.  The Board President leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Consent Agenda:  The consent agenda was approved.

Public Comments:  There were no public comments made.  The individual registered to speak was unable to attend.  

Old Business:  

A. There was no old business to discuss.  

New Business: 

A. The board approved 2021-2022 budget amendments for July.  The amendments included expenditures and revenues for a PAT Federal HUB grant.  

B. The board approved the re-adoption of Policy and Regulation 0342- Nepotism, Conflict of Interest, and Financial Disclosure.  This is a requirement every two years from the Missouri Ethics Commission.   

Discussion Items: 

The following items were discussed with the board:

A. The end of year transportation summary.  This summary included information regarding bus drivers, our bus fleet, miles traveled, and our ridership.  

B. The Special Education Determination Category.  Annually, DESE makes a determination of each local education agency.  This is a federal requirement and is not related to the compliance monitoring.  The district received a rating of 4-which indicated the district meets the requirements and purposes of the IDEA.  

C. Next Regular Board Meeting is August 24, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.  The tax rate hearing will begin at 5:50 p.m.   

In Closed Session:  

1. The board approved the hiring of the following substitute teachers for the 21-22 school year:

Debra Riggle

Brian Becker

Kelly Flowers

Paula Jarrell

See attached List for the remaining approved

2. The board approved hiring of the following individuals for the 21-22 school year pending favorable background checks and appropriate certification:

        Madison Adams, Special Services Paraprofessional at SW.  

Jessica Watson, Special Services Paraprofessional at Central.

Micah Smiley, Bus Driver.

4. A COVID-19 update was shared with the board.  

5. The remaining open positions for the 21-22 school year were reviewed with the board. 

Items at the conclusion of Executive Session

A. None at this time.
