Mary Elizabeth Thornburgh, daughter of the late Austin Poe and Mary Redding Poe, was born on March 22, 1963, in Essex, Missouri, and departed this life on August 5, 2021, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 58 years.
Mrs. Thornburgh was a registered nurse and had worked for Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was a member of the Walker General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri and a resident of Dexter, Missouri, and she enjoyed fishing.
On November 22, 1984, in Aquilla, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Alfred Thornburgh. Mr. Thornburgh survives of their home in Dexter.
In addition to her husband Alfred, she is survived by two sons, Bryan Thornburgh of Benton, Missouri and Jerry Thornburgh of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, Roy Poe of Aquilla, Missouri and Edgar Poe of Dexter, Missouri; and by her sister, Pansy Poe of Dexter, Missouri.
Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Poe; and by her sister, Margo Trent.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Jefferson officiating.
