The Mules Booster Club has named Kennedy Rowland and Alex Wiseman of Poplar Bluff High School the May Athletes of the Month, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Kennedy, an incoming senior who runs track, was a state qualifier in the 4x1 and 4x2 in 2021; made All-District in the 4x100 and 4x200; and was named All-Conference in the 4x100 and 4x200.

Kennedy “has really stepped up as a team leader,” said Elizabeth Lewis, her coach. “She is on time every day with a great attitude and working mindset. She leads by example, and is open to ideas to better the team.”

Alex, an incoming senior who serves as captain of the golf team, was named All-State, All-District and All-Conference in 2021; and was the Poplar Bluff and Notre Dame Invitational individual winner. He placed seventh at state, and tied for ninth in the Tom Hoover Invitational, averaging 73.3 throughout the tournament season. He led the Mules to a state record, with a team score of 297.

Alex has “great integrity, loyalty” and is a “leader,” stated Billy Pyland, his coach.
