In Memory of David Duane Vaughn

David Duane Vaughn, son of Robyn Smith Vaughn and the late Gary Len Vaughn, was born on August 21, 1965, in Marion, Illinois, and departed this life on July 5, 2021, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 55 years.

Mr. Vaughn was a Veteran of the United State Army, and he was a prison guard for the State of Illinois.

He is survived by his mother, Robyn Vaughn of Herrin, Illinois; by two sisters, Lisa Smith of The Villages, Florida and Joni Leah Frailey of Cookeville, Tennessee; by his significant other, Tresia Barnes; and by his beloved pet-dog, Rocky.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Jerrod Tyler “Cornbread” Plaskie

Jerrod Tyler “Cornbread” Plaskie, son of Crystal Plaskie Nall and the late Lonnie Cochran, was born on January 23, 1988, in Sikeston, Missouri, and departed this life on July 1, 2021, near Circle City, Missouri, at the age of 33 years.

On April 3, 2016, in Charleston, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Jamie Sadler.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie Plaskie of Oran, Missouri; by his mother and step-father, Crystal and Kevin Nall of Kirbyville, Missouri; by three sons, Braxton Plaskie of Sikeston, Missouri; Kastin Plaskie of Morehouse, Missouri, and Tylynn Plaskie of Sikeston, Missouri; by his brother, Brandon Cochran of Green Bay Wisconsin; by his sister, Stephanie Plaskie of Morehouse, Missouri; and by his nephew, Marcus Plaskie of Morehouse, Missouri.

A memorial service will be held in Morehouse, Missouri on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Carl Wayne Barnes Sr

Carl Wayne Barnes Sr., son of the late George Henry “Lefty” Barnes and Anglee Mason Barnes, was born on August 24, 1961, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on July 3, 2021, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 59 years.

Mr. Barnes was a Captain in the United States Air Forces, retiring after 21 years of service.

On December 26, 1982, in Bernie, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Sandy Massey. Mrs. Barnes survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife Sandy, he is survived by his son, Carl Wayne Barnes Jr. and wife Amanda of Dexter, Missouri; by his daughter, Dr. Christina Shirk, DNP and husband Bryan of Dexter, Missouri; by four brothers, Bobby Barnes and wife Debbie, Butch Barnes and wife Tammy, Richard Barnes and wife Paula, and Timmy Barnes and wife Amy, all of Bernie, Missouri; and by four grandchildren, Alexander Shirk, Nicholas Shirk, Elizabeth Barnes, and Carl Barnes III.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.

In Memory of Elwanda Bernice Sebree

Elwanda Bernice Sebree of Puxico, Missouri passed away July 05, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Sebree was born August 16, 1928, in Advance, Missouri to Floyd and Lottie (Helderman) Fowler.  

Elwanda married Richard Lee Sebree on April 05, 1946 in Advance, Missouri.  She was a member of the Corinth General Baptist and enjoyed quilting , flower gardens and vegetable garden.      

Elwanda is survived by one daughter Elaine (Billy) Clark of Puxico, Missouri; two grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother Harvey Lee (Lola) Fowler; one sister-in-law Phyllis Fowler of Ohio.  She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Lee Sebree; her parents Floyd and Lottie Fowler; two brothers Lyman Fowler and Floyd Fowler; one Sister Barbara Oliver.  She is survived by a host of family and friends.    

Visitation will be Wednesday July 07, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church of Puxico, Missouri.   

Funeral Service will be Wednesday July 07, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Clark of Puxico, Missouri and Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Puxico, Missouri officiating at the Corinth Baptist Church of Puxico, Missouri.

Interment will follow at the Rock Hill Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri. 

With Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Linda Diane McGowen

Linda Diane McGowen of Dudley, Missouri passed away July 03, 2021 at the age of 69.  She was born to the late Lewis Wiley McGowen and Mabel Cloe Hazel Hobbs McGowen on March 21, 1952 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  

Linda had lived in the Dudley area her entire life and was a member of the Hobbs Chapel Church in Dudley, Missouri.

Linda is survived one brother Jerry (Larna) McGowen of Dudley, Missouri; two aunts Wilma McGowen and Wanda Nash; several cousins.  A host of family and friends also survive.  She is proceeded in death by both of her parents. 

Visitation will be Wednesday July 07, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Hobbs Chapel Church.  

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday July 07, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hobbs Chapel Church with Rev. David Dee officiating of Sikeston, Missouri. Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

Interment will follow at the the Hobbs Chapel Cemetery.
