In Memory of Novella Razer Newcomer

Novella Razer Newcomer age 95 of Bloomfield, Missouri passed away April 21, 2021. She was born to the late Leland Moses and Gracie Cora Deck Linville on July 2, 1925 in Zadock, Missouri.

Novella first married Ervin Razer March 20, 1943 in Bloomfield, and he preceded her in death in 1985 and then she married Davey Newcomer on October 2, 1999 in Dexter, Missouri he also precedes her in death. She worked at Elder manufacturing as a seamstress. She did  baby sitting, and Novella and Reverend Ervin were very active in church. Novella lived in Risco, Scott City, Bell City, Dexter Missouri and Valier, Illinois before moving to Bloomfield where she lived until her passing. Novella loved sewing, quilting, reading and crossword puzzles.

Novella is survived by two sons James Razer of Bloomfield, Missouri and Randy (Madonna) Newcomer of Broken Arrow Oklahoma; two daughters Diana (Lennie) Hanner of Valier Illinois, Robin (Jim) Hindman of Chaffee, Missouri and one daughter in law Barbara Razer of Risco, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren. A host of family and friends also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Leland Razer, one daughter-in-law Louise Razer, four brothers Robert, Amos, Jesse, and Clyde Linville and three sisters Iness Croy, Mertie Cates, and Bessie Roper.

Visitation will be held on Sunday April 25, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday April 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Uhles of Valier, Illinois and Rev. Steve Tippen of Bloomfield officiating. Watkins and Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Raymond Eurskin Pool

Raymond Eurskin Pool, son of the late Shannon Pool and Velma Coughlin Pool, was born on October 14, 1934 in Lake City, Arkansas, and departed this life on April 20, 2021 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Pool was a missionary and pastor of Missionary Baptist churches. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri and a resident of Dexter, Missouri.

On August 2, 1952, in Paw Paw, Michigan, he was first united in marriage to Mary Hester. Mrs. Pool preceded him in death on October 6, 2006. In 2010, he was then united in marriage to Dora Landers. Mrs. Pool survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife, Dora, he is survived by three sons, Ronald Pool and wife Becky of Malden, Missouri, Donald Pool and wife Tammy of Kennett, Missouri, and John Pool and wife Betty of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by two daughters, Janet Hankins of Dexter, Missouri, and Joyce Smith and husband Terry of Dexter, Missouri; and by his sister, Norma Godsave of Florida. He was greatly loved by all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Other than by his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Hankins; by his brother Roland Pool; and by his sister, Bertha Schmid.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Tarter officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

The Pool family respectfully request that everyone wear a mask to the services.

In Memory of Alice Lorene Martin

Alice Lorene Martin, daughter of the late Preston Elihue Shipman and Eunice Lorene Williams Shipman, was born on December 10, 1944 in Flint, Michigan, and departed this life on April 19, 2021 at Winchester Nursing in Bernie, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.

Mrs. Martin was a member of First Baptist Church in Bernie, Missouri. She was a 1962 graduate of Dexter Senior High School and was a member of Bernie Civic Club for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who took pride in being a home-maker, tending to her family 24/7 making sure they had everything they needed. She loved helping her husband and boys with the farm and their businesses. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters, her dog Red, and her grand-dog, Marley. Alice never met a stranger, treating everyone she met with the same love and kindness.

On November 10, 1962, in Bernie, Missouri, she was united in marriage to M. O. “Sonny” Martin Jr. Mr. Martin preceded her in death on November 26, 2014.

She is survived by three sons, Tim Martin and wife Michelle of Bernie, Mike Martin and wife Amber of Dexter, and David Martin of Dexter; and by four grandchildren, Bailey Martin, Taylor Counts and husband Matt, Shelby Martin and Maycie Martin; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Shipman; and by her sister, Barbara Ridenhour.

Funeral services will be conducted at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ivan Mekan officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery. Following the interment at Bernie cemetery there will be a time to celebrate her life and fellowship with friends and family at the Bernie First Baptist Church fellowship hall.

In Memory of Harold Quinton Malloy Jr.

Harold Quinton Malloy Jr., son of Dimple McWaters Malloy and the late Harold “Quinton” Malloy Sr., was born on October 1, 1953 in Butler County, Missouri, and departed this life on April 17, 2021 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 67 years.

Harold was a 1971 graduate of Matthews High School. After graduation, at the age of seventeen and with the consent of his father, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, with the 101st Airborne Division (Aid Assault) where he was trained to fly helicopters. He was a former employee of JP Ross Cotton Company, a former member of the Eagles and a resident of Dexter, Missouri.

He is survived by his mother, Dimple Malloy of Morehouse, Missouri; and by his brother, Carles Malloy and wife Lori of Essex, Missouri.

Other than by his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Treasa Malloy.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be conducted at Essex Cemetery on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. James Malloy officiating.

The Malloy family respectfully requests that everyone wear a mask during visitation.

Joyce Lee Creed Francis, daughter of the late Doy Lee Creed and Velva Ann Hardy Creed, was born on May 29, 1938, in Bloomfield, Missouri and departed this life on April 19, 2021 at NHC Healthcare in Maryland Heights, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.

Mrs. Francis was a former hair stylist for Salvatoris in Ballwin, Missouri.

She was first united in marriage to William Francis Sr. in 1958, together they had five children and a lifetime companionship. She was then united in marriage to Cornelius VanDeutekom in 1981.

She is survived by her daughter, Joy Shaw and husband Kenneth of Edwardsville, Illinois; by four sons, William “Bill” Francis Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri, Richard Francis and wife Sherrie of St. Charles, Missouri, Steven Francis of St. Charles, Missouri, and Kenny Francis of Kirkwood, Missouri; by two brothers, Kenny Creed of Crain Hill, Alabama and Doy Creed of Dexter, Missouri; by two sisters, Carolyn McLaughlin of Kearney, Missouri and Janice Crowley of Dexter, Missouri; and by fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husbands.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery. Following the graveside service, the Francis family will host a buffet dinner at the Hickory Log.
