In Memory of Nola Jean Warren Ward

Nola Jean Warren Ward, daughter of the late Albert Warren and Gladys Dozier Warren, was born on August 26, 1934 in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on April 14, 2021 at Lexington Health Care Center in Lake Zurich, Illinois, at the age of 86 years.

Mrs. Ward was a former resident of Dexter, Missouri and attended First Baptist Church in Dexter. She was a former employee of Harris Ready Mix in Dexter and Ross Dress for Less in California.

She is survived by her son, Jim Gruman and wife Tina of Riverside, Illinois; by two daughters, Cathy Taylor and husband Mark of Florissant, Colorado, and Susan Spudis and husband Robert of Newfield, New York; by five grandchildren, Mickala Lynch, Zachary Gruman, Alex Gruman, Michelle and Ezekiel Martin, and Michael and Jessi Spudis; and by four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Aiden, Veronica, and Rylan.

Service information will be announced later by Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Jean Audrey DeJournett, 92, died April 13, 2021, in the Delta South Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Services at Sikeston, Missouri.

Born May 26, 1928, at Essex, Missouri, daughter of the late W.J. and Anna Fortner Williamson, she was a member of the South Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church near Essex.

On July 11, 1946, at Essex, Missouri, she married Lee Daniel DeJournett.

Survivors include three sons, Terry DeJournett of Starkville, Mississippi, David DeJournett of Essex, Missouri, and Larry DeJournett of Oakland, Tennessee; one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

Three sisters, Rachel Smith, Ruth Fulkerson, and Lorene Barker and five brothers, Bill Williamson, Bob Williamson, Marion Williamson, Parvin Williamson, and Marvin Williamson, all preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Malloy officiating. Burial will follow in the Triplett Cemetery near Essex.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Alice Eagle, daughter of the late Charles Gilbert Gales and Elizabeth Keaton Gales, was born on December 9, 1948 in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on April 12, 2021 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 72 years.

Mrs. Eagle was a former certified nursing assistant at Golden Living Center in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

She is survived by two sons, Aaron McBroom and Adam Eagle both of Dexter, Missouri; by two daughters, Gillian Cagle and husband Ray of Rogersville, Missouri and Chelsee Stephens and husband Terry Jr. of Chaffee, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Trevor Burnham of Aurora, Illinois, Johnna McBroom of Owaso, Michigan, Alyssa Stephens and Brysen McFarlen both of Chaffee, Missouri; and by her significant other, Jesse Pritchard of Dexter, Missouri.

No services are currently planned.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Michael Long, 72, of Essex, Missouri was born to the late Theron Cleveland and Edna Marie Robinson Long on August 6, 1949 in Essex, Missouri and passed away on February 10, 2021 in Essex, Missouri.

Mike had been a resident of  Essex, Missouri for over thirty years he also lived in Texas. He retired from Amco metal industrial manufacturer in Sikeston as a machinist  and enjoyed fishing, gardening and tinkering around with different things.

Surviving are his two sons Thomas Michael Long of Essex, Missouri and Darrol Lynn Long of Branson, Missouri; three brothers Ernie Long of Essex, Missouri, Darrol Long of Fulton, Missouri and Robin Long of Essex, Missouri; three sisters Shannon Heilman of Bloomfield, Missouri Sandra Mowry of Cherryville, Missouri Patricia Charest of St. Louis, Missouri; one grandson; A host of family and friends nieces and nephews also survive.  

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sister.

Visitation will be held Thursday April 15, 2021 from 12:00 until 1:30 pm at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Interment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.

In Memory of Tommy Gene Blackburn

Tommy Gene Blackburn of Parma, Missouri was born to the late Bob and Evelyn Aaron Blackburn on January 08, 1932 in Deering, Missouri and passed away on April 11, 2021 in Cypress Point Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 89 years.

Tommy has been a resident of Parma, Missouri most of his life. He was a member of the VFW of Parma and VFW of Lilbourn.  He was a Veteran of Korean War where he received combat infantry, Korean service medal and the purple heart,  

Tommy was married to Mildred Hardin on February 16, 1954 in Corinth, Mississippi.  She preceded him in death on April 19, 2008.

Surviving are his three sons Chris Blackburn of Parma, Missouri, Carl (Kaye) Blackburn of New Madrid, Missouri and Sam (Janet) Blackburn of Sikeston, Missouri; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; one brother Charles Blackburn of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters Chlotina Felker of Saint Louis Missouri and Pat Ann Tucker of Sun City, Arizona.  Also a host of nieces and nephews survive.  Tommy was preceded in death by three brothers Billy Blackburn, James Blackburn and Joe Blackburn and two sisters Earnestine Hood and Judy Hargis.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 14, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

 Graveside services to be held on Wednesday April 14, 2021 at 2:30 p.m.  with full Military Honors.  At the Malden Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Brother Kevin Lawrence of Gideon, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow in the Malden Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
