In Memory of Janis Elaine Midgett

Janis Elaine Midgett, daughter of Cletus A and Opal Wolpers Miller, was born October 31, 1949, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life April 5, 2021 at Southeast Health of Stoddard County, in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 71 years.

On February 11, 1966, she was united in marriage to David Earl Midgett of Puxico at Second General Baptist Church in Dexter. Mr. Midgett preceded her in death on June 6, 2003.

She is survived by two sons, David Midgett Jr. and Robert (Michelle) Midgett of Dexter. She leaves two grandsons, Shawn (Sherry) Midgett of Dexter and Kale Midgett of her home in Dexter; and five granddaughters, Samantha Chamberlain of Bloomfield, Natalie Midgett of Dexter, Lacey (Matt) Brown of Cape Girardeau, Hannah Midgett of Dexter, and Sara Midgett of her home in Dexter. Janis raised three granddaughters Samantha, Lacey, and Sara, along with her grandson Kale selflessly in her home in Dexter. Janis leaves three great grandsons, Cole Midgett, Silas Kiger, and Parker Chamberlain. She is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Cartwright, of Bloomfield.

Other than her husband and parents, Janis was preceded in death by her sisters, Lisa and Marcia Miller.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
