Bonnie Frances “Fran” King-Buchanan, 71, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau. She was born August 18, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, to the late Rev. Therman Lee King and Norma Jean Cooper King. She was united in marriage to Dwight Buchanan in January 1967.
Fran was a graduate of Bloomfield High School and attended Metro Business College. She worked as the Office Manager for Prairie Farms Dairy, General X-Ray, and HSCA, before retiring due to health issues. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Morehouse. Fran loved gardening, was a great cook, and enjoyed reading her bible. She loved her family and her dog, Anna.
Loving survivors include three children, Michael Scott Buchanan of St. Louis, Missouri, Rodney (Vicky) Buchanan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Kathy (Jerry) Sitz of Jackson, Missouri; by nine siblings, Betty (Perry) Metcalf of Bloomfield, Missouri, Cathy (Lavon) O’Neal of Prairieville, Louisiana, Dennis (Sherry) King of Fisk, Missouri, Connie (Gary) Hattaway of Alexandria, Louisiana, Regina (Stan) Mick , Robyn Berry, Becky (Mike) Maddox, all of Dexter, Missouri, Rhonda King of Columbia, Missouri, and Randy King of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Dalton Buchanan and Dallas Buchanan; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, maternal and paternal grandparents; by her sister, Tanya King Robinson; and by her nephew, Chris Berry.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Funeral services to follow in the Mathis Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
