In Memory of Glenda Elizabeth Starnes

Glenda Elizabeth Starnes, daughter of the late Alfred Hill and Maxine Evelyn Eldridge Hill was born on September 1, 1951 in Des Arc, Missouri, and departed this life on January 21, 2021 at her residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 69.

Mrs. Starnes was a homemaker. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dexter. She enjoyed quilting and loved being called “Nana” by all her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was united in marriage to Gaylon Starnes, Sr. on September 20, 1969 in Dexter, Missouri. Mr. Starnes survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to her husband, Gaylon, she is survived by two sons, Gaylon Starnes, Jr. (Debbie) of Portage, Michigan, and Stacy Starnes (Teresa) of Puxico, Missouri; by one daughter, Carol Starnes of Dexter, Missouri; by three grandchildren, Zabrina Starnes, Cody Starnes, and Moriah Starnes; by three sisters, Bessie Cooper of Chaffee, Missouri, Rose West of Tyler, Texas, and Betty Vaughn of Chaffee, Missouri.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, John Hill, Bobby Hill, Art Hill, and Freddie Hill; three sisters, Wilma Fite, Dora May Burleson, and Anna Burleson.

Visitation will be conducted on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will then be conducted on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Ian Crump officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
