
Iva A. Horn, daughter of the late Jack Dowdy and Marie Dempsey Dowdy, was born on April 13, 1936 in Clarksville, Arkansas, and departed this life on January 16, 2021 at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 84 years.
Mrs. Horn was the former manager of Broiler Houses for Hudson Foods and she was a resident of Dexter, Missouri.
On February 7, 1963, in Essex, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Johnny Horn. Mr. Horn preceded her in death on March 9, 2008.
She is survived by three sons, Anthony Cunningham and wife Christina, Johnny Horn and wife Michelle, and Billy Horn and wife Jennifer, all of Dexter, Missouri; by four daughters, Sheila Reeves and husband Frank of Golden Valley, Arizona, Pam Sanders and husband Delbert of Dexter, Missouri, Vickie Sanders and husband Steve of Essex, Missouri, and Jennifer Teague and husband Tim of Herrin, Illinois; by her brother, Richard Dowdy of Dexter, Missouri; and by twenty-seven grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Larry Dowdy, Edward Dowdy, John Dowdy, Bill Spence, Jimmy Dowdy, and Clarence Dowdy; and by five sisters, Louise Oliver, Lovena Dowdy, Nancy Pullum, Leta Sides, and Alice Faye Dowdy.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Malloy officiating.
Interment will follow in Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
