In Memory of Reverend Richard “Wayne” Dismuke

Reverend Richard “Wayne” Dismuke, son of the late Reverend R.T. Dismuke and Bernice (Ender) Dismuke, was born on February 1, 1948 and entered the gates of heaven on October 29, 2020 at the age of 72 in Franklin, Tennessee.

Before retiring, Wayne was the Senior Adult Pastor at Christ Church Nashville, and also served the congregation at First Baptist Church, Dexter, MO for 23 years as Youth Minister and Senior Pastor. Although Wayne retired from the ministry in 2015, he never stopped being a pastor. On June 9, 1973, he was united in marriage to his life and ministry partner Ann (Parks) Dismuke. Together they had two children, Scott (Dionne) Dismuke of Franklin, Tennessee and Amy Kelly (Jason) of San Diego, California.

Wayne was most proud of being a grandfather to his two grandchildren, Dyson Dismuke and Makenna Kelly. He loved his grandchildren deeply.  Wayne’s passion was serving others through ministry and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved life and always looked for the humor in any situation. Wayne believed that laughter was the best medicine.

His impact on this world is immeasurable leading youth, adults and senior adults to Christ while ministering to them at youth camps, Disciple Now, Mission Trips, youth retreats, his senior adult ministry and even the local coffee shop.

Wayne loved the Lord, loved people and loved the St. Louis Cardinals, although the ladder usually caused him frustration with their lack of offensive production.  He is survived by his wife, Ann, their children and his two grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Gladys McCune of Eureka, MO and Carol Betts of Boise, ID, as well as many other family, friends and ministry partners.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at the First Baptist Church in Dexter, MO.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to 18 FORE Life, 705 Laurie Circle, Dexter, MO 63841.
