Billy Gene “Sonny” Eaton, son of the late Albert Eaton and Lois Wilson Eaton, was born on August 9, 1934 in Essex, Missouri, and departed this life on November 5, 2020 at Cotton Point Living Center in Matthews, Missouri, at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Eaton was a veteran and retired from the United States Navy. He was a civil service firefighter, affiliated with Jehovah’s Witness faith and a resident of Dexter.

On April 5, 1956, in Union County, Mississippi, he was united in marriage to Jessie Faye Enlow. Mrs. Eaton preceded him in death on October 24, 2019.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia James and husband Lawton, of Dexter, Missouri; and by many cousins.

Other than by his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Alan Eaton; by his brother, Glen Eaton; and by two sisters, Evelyn Triplett and Ada Stacy.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery, with full military honors.
