
Lois Alma Wiggs Roberts, daughter of the late Odus Wiggs and Myrl Blackman Wiggs, was born on October 20, 1923, near Bernie, Missouri, and departed this life on October 19, 2020 at Winchester Nursing Center in Bernie, at the age of 96 years.
Mrs. Roberts was a former employee of Elder Manufacturing in Bloomfield, for 20 years, working as a machine operator, and she helped her husband on the family farm. Lois was a member of Liberty Hill General Baptist Church in Aid for 65 years, she played piano for the Aid Quartette for over 15 years, and sang with the Senior Choir of Dexter.
On July 22, 1940, in Bernie, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Paul Thomas Roberts, and to this union four children were born. Mr. Roberts preceded her in death on October 26, 2007.
She is survived by her son, Rick Roberts and wife Ramona of Essex, Missouri; by her daughter, Pauletta Fleeman of Alvin, Texas; by her brother, J. D. Wiggs of Springfield, Missouri; and by eight grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, baby Jerry Thomas Roberts; by her daughter, Shelby Jean McKay; by two sons-in-law, Leon McKay and James Fleeman; by three brothers, John Wiggs, Rev. Glen Wiggs, and Chalmer Wiggs; by two sisters, Naomi Stewart and Dorris Dorris; and by four grandchildren, Annette Warren, Carrie Cloyd, Jerry McKay and Jeremy Fleeman.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ron Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
