In Memory of Billie G. Cooper Sr

Billie G. Cooper Sr., 81, of Dexter, Missouri, died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau surrounded by his family and minister, Stan Dauck.  Billie and his twin sister, Bettie Cooper Thurston, was born August 25, 1939 in Bernie, Missouri, to the parents of Lloyal R. Cooper and Dawsy M. Cooper. 

He was a retired machine operator for the Federal-Mogul Corporation after serving 41 years making automotive pistons.  He was also a veteran of the Missouri Army National Guard.  He was a member of the Church of Christ in Bernie, Missouri, where he had also served as a deacon.

On December 25, 1964, he married Patricia A. Dunning, she resides of the home in Dexter.  Other than his wife, he is survived by two sons, Billie G. Cooper Jr. and wife Aimee of Dexter and Timothy W. Cooper and wife Tanya of Sikeston; by his daughter, Melissa J. Culbertson and husband Reed of Dexter; and by five grandsons, Collin L. Cooper, Ross A. Culbertson, Justin D. Gordon, Lane J. Gordon and Garrison A. Meeks.

He is also survived by three brothers, Travis Cooper of Bernie, Ardie Cooper of Junction City, Kansas and Roger Cooper of Bernie; and by four sisters, Bettie Thurston of Bernie, Darlene McGowan of Bernie, Cora Nettie Coker of Republic and Janet Wood of Malden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyal R. Cooper and Dawsy M. Cooper; by two sisters, Geraldine Pyle and Gloriaetta Beaird; and by his brother, Rev. Don Cooper.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Stan Dauck officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
