In Memory of Lawrence “Fred” Hicks

Lawrence “Fred” Hicks, son of the late Joseph Edward Hicks and Edith Cowin Hicks, was born on June 15, 1953 in Granite City, Illinois, and departed this life on July 19, 2020 at Princeton Health and Rehab Center in Princeton, Kentucky, at the age of 67 years.

Mr. Hicks grew up in Essex, Missouri.  He was a former member of the Missouri Army National Guard, Unit 1221, in Dexter, Missouri, serving for 8 years.  He was a former member and deacon at the Victory Temple Church in Dexter.  He moved to Jackson, Missouri, where he was the former owner of Mr. Locksmith and attended the Cape County Cowboy Church. 

He is survived by his son, Shawn Hicks of Princeton, Kentucky; by five brothers, Harold Hicks of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Eddie Hicks of Dexter, Missouri, Mike Hicks of Fairmont, Minnesota, Lenny Hicks of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Mark Hicks; by two sisters, Phyllis Lemons and Freda Cox, both of Dexter, Missouri; and by three grandchildren, Dalton Hicks, Blaine Hicks, and Cash Hicks, all of Princeton, Kentucky.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Busby.

Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
