In Memory of Shelba Jean Lane Mofield

Shelba Jean Lane Mofield, daughter of the late J. B. Lane and Ruble Snider Lane, was born on August 12, 1940, in Essex, Missouri, and departed this life on July 19, 2020 at Mulberry Manor in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 79 years.

Shelba was a 1958 graduate of Essex High School.  She faithfully attended Risen Church in Dexter and she was a resident of Dexter.  Shelba was a former telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, a beautician, and a former bookkeeper and secretary for Adams McCord Paint Contracting.  She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball.  Shelba loved spending time with God, her family, and her friends.

She was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Mofield on July 29, 1961, in Essex, Missouri.  Jerry preceded her in death on November 26, 2010.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Delay and husband Rick of Bloomfield; by her granddaughters, Courtney Aslin and husband Nathan of Bloomfield and Chelsea Delay of Bloomfield; by her great-granddaughter, Delayne Piper Aslin; by her sister, LaNeal Widenbenner of Belleville, Illinois; by two aunts, Martha Delezene of Evergreen, Colorado, and Nina Jean Tippen of Kennett; by her daughter-in-law, Donna Mofield of Dexter; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Shelba was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Chris Mofield; by two brothers, Jerry Lane and Rick Lane; by her sister, Hazel Mouser; and by many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Roth officiating.  Interment will follow in Dexter Cemetery.
