Paul Dewey Bevins, was born on July 15, 1940 in Paintsville, Kentucky, and departed this life on June 23, 2020 at his residence in Dexter Missouri at the age of 79 years.
Paul spent 24 years in the United States Air Force and is a Vietnam Veteran. After this, he worked for ITT in Greenland. He returned to the United States and worked for the United States Marine Corps for twelve years. Upon his retirement, he volunteered as the director of an Outreach Program for the Southern Baptist Association and as a volunteer on their Disaster Relief team in New Mexico. Paul enjoyed outdoor life and fishing.
He was united in marriage to Grace Lois Barrett on February 14, 1993 in Santa Ana, California. They chose Valentine’s Day so he wouldn’t forget the day.
Mr. Bevins was preceded in death by his father, Farest D. (Trooper) Bevins and his mother, Laura E. Wright Bevins; by his brother, James Larry Bevins; by two sisters, Patricia Bevins Schmitz and Pamelia Bevins Hanson; by his youngest son, Anthony Scott Bevins; by two granddaughters, Jennifer Nichole Woolworth and Amber N. Bevins; and by his grandson, Brandon Schwier.
Surviving Paul are his wife, Grace Bevins of their home in Dexter, his brother, Carl Bevins and wife Lorell of Warsaw, Indiana; two sons, Paul D. Bevins II of Turro, England and Kevin T. Bevins of Goodyear, Arizona; three step-children, Vicki M. Roark of Yucca Valley, California, Gregory Altman of Dexter, Missouri, and Lois E. Schwier of Chester, Illinois; and his grandson, Matthew J. Altman of Yucca Valley, California, who he stepped in as a father for. Also, he shared a large number of grandchildren, thirteen surviving, and at last count, ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.
Private, family only, interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.
