Jackie Chester Bess, son of the late Ernest Bess and Mickey Cook Bess, was born on October 20, 1946 in Grayridge, Missouri and departed this life on February 2, 2020 at Southeast Health of Stoddard County at the age of 73 years.
Mr. Bess was a former forklift driver for Faurecia in Dexter, Missouri and a resident of Dexter. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Wappepello and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Jackie loved his family dearly. He spent his free time with his children and grandchildren; and loved to watch the kids play ball.
On April 15, 1967, in Essex, Missouri, he was untied in marriage to Peggy Frederick. Mrs. Bess survives of their home in Dexter.
In addition to his wife Peggy, he is survived by his son, Jack Bess Jr. of Dexter; by two daughters, Sherri Hann and husband Brad, and Karen Bess, all of Dexter; by two brothers, Kenneth Bess and wife Ruth of Bloomfield and Donald Bess and wife Gale of Dexter; by five sisters, Bonnie Jaco and husband Leon of Marble Hill, Betty Whitley and husband Michael of Dexter, Brenda O’Connell and husband Tony of Dexter, Janet Bracken and husband Joe of Bloomfield, and Shelia Bess of Dexter; by eight grandchildren, Victoria Bess, Kennedy Bess, Charlene Bess, Kaitlynne Hann, Nathan Hann, Parker Carnell, Zach Lesley, and Courtney Norman; and by his great-granddaughter, Avery Lesley.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Bess, in infancy.
Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
