In Memory of Charles M. Corlies

Charles “Charlie” M. Corlies, son of the late George W. Corlies Jr. and Marcella Cannon Corlies of Dexter, Missouri, was born on May 20, 1949 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on January 5, 2020 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 70 years.

Mr. Corlies was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He was a former heavy equipment operator for Brown Construction and a member of Risen Church in Dexter.  Charles was a loving father and grandfather.  His retirement years were spent enjoying gardening, canning, playing golf, fishing, and giving rides on the golf cart to his great-grandchildren.

On October 2, 1971, in Bloomfield, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Shirley Hughes.  Mrs. Corlies survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Candee Copeland and husband Josh of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Mystee Corlies of Dexter, Missouri; by his brother, Bobby Lee Corlies and wife Denise of Jacksonville, Florida; by two sisters, Velma Ruth Ray and Georgia Ann Haney, both of Dexter, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Jade (JD) Jagelovicz, Taylor (Garrett) Hutchcraft, Jake (Sadie) Adams and Austin Adams; and by four great-grandchildren, KC Jagelovicz, Stella Jagelovicz, Tristan Jagelovicz, and Penelope Hutchcraft.

Other than by his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Gene Corlies; by two brothers-in-law, Roger Ray and Ronnie Haney; and by his great-grandson, Cash Adams.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.   

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Roth officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
