In Memory of Truman Christian

Truman Christian, son of the late Otis P. Christian and Ovie Chapman Christian, was born on May 28, 1927 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on August 7, 2019 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 92.

Mr. Christian was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II.  He was a member of the Risen Church in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter.  Truman had worked at various companies as a heavy equipment operator.

On April 10, 1943 he was united in marriage to Chlora Lemons in Piggott, Arkansas.  Mrs. Christian preceded him in death on April 30, 2014.

He is survived by three sons, Jerry Christian and his wife Ann of Columbia, Missouri, Gary Christian and his wife Patty of Dexter and Dale Christian and his wife Linda of Paragould, Arkansas; by five brothers, Paul Christian of Dexter, Raymond Christian of St. Louis, Missouri, Tim Christian of Dexter, Jimmy Christian of Arnold, Missouri and Leotis Christian of Dexter; by one sister, Ota Roberts of Dexter; by six grandchildren, Cindy Benney of Columbia, Missouri, Jason Christian of San Fernando, California, Matt Christian of Austin, Texas, Lori Easley of Paragould, Arkansas, David Christian of Benton, Missouri and Stephanie Myers of Dexter; by seven great-grandchildren, Emma Lea Benney, Aubrie Benney, Chloe Christian, Lauren Covington, Caden Sheeks, Nicholas Christian and Elizabeth Christian; and by three great-great grandchildren, Lexis Covington, Layton Covington and Bentley Sheeks.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother who raised him after his mother passed away at an early age, Ella Mae Christian, by a son in infancy; by a grandson, Brad Christian and by a granddaughter, Angela Dawn Christian.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, August 12, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jeff Roth officiating. 

Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery, with full military honors.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
