Stoddard County, Missouri - The National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky has issued a Special Weather Statement for Stoddard County, Missouri until 4 p.m. Wednesday.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT UNTIL 4PM CDT WED

...HEAT INDEX WILL REACH OR EXCEED 100 THIS AFTERNOON

... HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY ARE FORECAST TO BE AROUND 90 DEGREES.

VERY HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS HEAT INDICES AROUND 100 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON. OVER SOUTHEAST MISSOURI, HEAT INDICES MAY REACH 105 DEGREES FOR A SHORT TIME, BEFORE THUNDERSTORMS BRING SOME RELIEF.

HEAT WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD THURSDAY INTO THE WEEKEND. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THAT TIME PERIOD. STAY HYDRATED DURING THIS UPCOMING HEAT WAVE BY DRINKING PLENTY OF FLUIDS.

TAKE FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN THE SHADE IF YOU MUST WORK OUTDOORS, OR RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITY FOR A COOLER TIME OF DAY.
