In Memory of Charlotta L. “Lottie Lou” McMullin
Charlotta L. “Lottie Lou” McMullin, age 88, of Breese, IL, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 at her residence.  

She was born June 7, 1931 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of the late Clifton R. and Ruth (Polen) Mason.  

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin McMullin, whom she married November 17, 1950; a daughter, Marian McMullin; two sisters:  Mable Cooper and Carrie Morton; and a brother, David “Murray” Mason.

Mrs. McMullin is survived by two children:  Debora (Jim) Riddle of Breese, IL and Dennis McMullin of Dexter, MO; three grandchildren:  Angela (Christopher) Herndon, Daniel (Amanda) Riddle, Mariah McMullin (fiancé, Mike Nely); six great-grandchildren:  Benjamin and Jack Herndon, Riley, Samantha and Lincoln Riddle; and Abel Nely; a brother, C.R. Mason of Dexter, MO; and many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.   

Edwin and Lottie owned and operated McMullin Excavating Co.  She was a volunteer (Pink Lady) at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter, MO.  After moving to Breese, she enjoyed living at the Villas of St. James and participating in all of the activities.  Her hobby was cross-stitching and making quilts for her grandchildren.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 at the Villas of St. James in Breese, IL.  A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, MO, with a luncheon to follow at the First Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden, IL.

In Memory of Robert E. Davis Jr
Robert E. Davis Jr., son of Robert E. Davis of Dexter, Missouri and the late Marna Gillespie Davis was born on January 13, 1958 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on July 1, 2019 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 61.

Rob was the owner and operator of Robbie D’s Restaurant and Bar in Dexter.  He was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge.  He enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his friends. Rob was a proud member of the 1976 graduating class of the Dexter Senior High School.

Besides his father, he is survived by one daughter, Devonne Davis and her fiancé Jerrell both of St. Louis, Missouri; by one son, Robert E. Davis III of Dexter; by two sisters, Vicki L. Taylor and her husband Bayless of Dexter and Donna S. Backfisch and her husband Mike of Dexter; by his Uncle Donn Gillespie of Bradenton, Florida and his Aunt Betty Threlkeld of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by nieces and nephews, John and Lisa Taylor of Dexter, Jim Cochran and Shannon Taylor of Milan, New Hampshire, Michael and Rachel Backfisch of Lewisville, North Carolina, Baylee Decker, Austin Decker, Rylee Taylor, Davis Backfisch, Dalton Backfisch, Calvi Cochran and Taylor Decker; by his special work family at Robbie D’s and many, many friends and family.

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Hidden Trails Country Club. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Hidden Trails Country Club in Dexter.

In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to the 18 Fore Life Charity, c/o, Scott Kruse, 705 Laurie Circle, Dexter, Missouri 63841.

In Memory of Margaret Baker
Margaret Baker, daughter of the late Clifford Hunt and Theone Black Hunt, was born on August 26, 1941 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on July 1, 2019 at Winchester Place in Bernie, Missouri at the age of 77 years.

Mrs. Baker was a former seamstress for Elder Manufacturing in Dexter.

She is survived by two sons, Greg Baker of Oak Ridge, Missouri and James Baker of Murphysboro, Tennessee; by her daughter, Tina Barrett of Zalma, Missouri; by two sisters, Glenda Craig of Dexter, Missouri and Debbi Maffia of Dixon, Missouri; by twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Hunt and her sister, Freda Gales.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.

In Memory of Sandra Dee Richmond
Sandra Dee Richmond, daughter of the late Freddie Wiseman, Sr. and Paula Suarez Bennett, was born on January 28, 1960 in Nassau, The Bahamas and departed this life on June 25, 2019 at Southeast Health of Stoddard County in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 59 years.

Sandra was a devout Catholic and loved to pray.  She was a 1978 graduate of Bloomfield High School.  Her favorite job was being a waitress at Hidden Trails Country Club.  She enjoyed shopping, yard sales and flea markets.  She loved being a homemaker, going out to eat, traveling, listening to country music, and watching game shows and westerns on TV. 

She is survived by two sons, Ryan Jones of Pocahontas, Arkansas and Gary Corse, Jr. (Kirsten) of Dexter, Missouri; by her beloved companion, John “Jack” Wells of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, Freddie Wiseman, Jr. (Sally) of Fairfield, California and Wilburn “Webbie” Wiseman (Carla) of Pocahontas, Arkansas; by her sister, Andria Allen (Jerry) of Biggers, Arkansas; by her grandson, Hayden; by six nephews and nieces and by many close friends.

A celebration of life is being planned for family and friends for a later date.

In Memory of Freddie Joe “Fred” Smith
Freddie Joe “Fred” Smith, son of the late Burl Smith and Celestia Osbon Smith, was born on November 13, 1934 in Barbwire, Tennessee and departed this life on June 28, 2019 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 84 years.

Mr. Smith was a former Heavy Equipment Operator for J. R. McClard Construction.  He was a member of the First Church of God in Dexter, Missouri and a resident of Dexter.

On April 16, 1952, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mattie Jane Johnson.  Mrs. Smith preceded him in death on September 4, 2005.

He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Smith of Dexter and Larry Smith of Jackson; by two daughters, Sandra Jane Lindemann and Trudy Lynn Smith, both of Dexter; by six grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Other than by his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael E. J. Smith; by his brother, Burley EJ Smith; by his sister, Essie Carter, and by one grandchild.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will then be conducted on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Leonard Madigan officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
