I-55 Traffic Diverted for Scott City Interchange Construction
 
North and southbound Interstate 55 traffic will be diverted as contractor crews set girders for the Scott City Interchange bridge. This bridge is located at Route PP over I-55 in Scott County.

Construction will be underway overnight beginning Wednesday, June 12.

Northbound I-55 traffic will utilize the newly constructed on and off ramps at Route PP from 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 to 7 a.m. Thursday, June 13, weather permitting. Southbound I-55 traffic will utilize Exit 89 in Benton, Missouri, to Route 61 to Route 77 to I-55 from 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 to 5:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, weather permitting.

The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.

Chester Bridge Closure Expected June 1, 2019 Due to High Water

Based on current river levels, the Missouri Department of Transportation anticipates closing the Route 51 Chester Bridge across the Mississippi River at noon Saturday, June 1. This bridge links Perry County, Missouri, to Randolph County, Illinois. Please seek alternate routes to travel from Missouri to Illinois.

MoDOT will continue to monitor river levels and reassess as conditions change. To stay up-to-date, please follow MoDOT Southeast on Facebook.

Heavy Rains and Strong Winds Knock Out Power in Dexter Area

Dexter, Missouri - Several residents in the Dexter area experienced high winds early Wednesday evening.  Heavy rain and wind caused power outages in the area as well.

AmerenMissouri reported a total of 6,600 homes and businesses without power in their coverage area.  According to their recorded message most power will be restored this evening; however some may not be restored until Thursday due to trees over the powerlines.

Ozark Border Electric also reported about 1,300 without power.

Update:  Only about 1,000 are without power as of 9 p.m.
