Annual Tree Sale Set for Saturday, April 27th in Dexter

Dexter, Missouri - Dexter's Tree Board will host their annual Tree Sale on April 27, 2019 from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.

The Tree Sale will be in the lot across from the Caboose in downtown Dexter behind Jean and Company.

"We've been having annual sales for about 15-18 years," commented Tree Board Member Wayne Jean.  "Our trees now are planted here in Dexter, grown and cared for and have wintered here for a couple of years before we sell to the public.  They are also native to this region and can handle our climate and soil."

There will be a variety of trees from Crepe Myrtles, Oak, Maple, Red Buds, Japanese Cherries, (like the ones planted downtown Dexter), Cypress and even some Dogwoods.  Prices will range from around $12 - $20 per tree depending on the type of tree.

"Proceeds from the tree sale will go to beautification projects like planting the trees down Stoddard Street and side streets in downtown Dexter," continued Jean.

Serving on the Dexter Tree Board are Wayne Jean, Herman Morse, Leonard Morse, Corey Bennett, Bennetta Harrellson, and Judy Thurston.

Puxico Police and Fire Departments Collecting Shoes

Puxico, Missouri - The Puxico Police Department and Fire Department are collecting gently worn, used  and new shoes.  Beginning April 1, 2019 - July 11, 2019 you can donate shoes at the police department or at Bill's Market.

There will be one pick-up date on April 13, 2019 from door to door.  All you have to do is collect shoes together and place them in a bag or box and place on the door step and they will be picked up that day.

The group they are using for the shoe drive will give .40 cents per pound of shoes at the end of the year to help children at Christmas.

If you have any questions contact Chief Rick Sheren or Cpl. Brandon Throop at (573) 222-3565.

Collected shoes are used to support micro-enterprise vendors.  These are small businesses in developing nations and are typically operated by one person or a small family.
