Waldner Only Dexter Wrestler Still in Contention for Medal at State

Columbia, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcat wrestling team entered the Class 2 State Wrestling Tournament with 11 athletes.  Today only one remains following the second round at the University of Missouri's Mizzou Arena.

Travis Waldner, a junior at Dexter High School, lost in the 138 lb quarterfinal on Friday, February 15, 2019 and will face Elias Barrientos of Monett in the 3rd round of wrestlebacks on Friday evening.  Waldner finished third last year in the 126 lb weight class.

Chase Cordia of Osage beat Waldner 7-5 in overtime.  Waldner then pinned Evan Dowdy of Notre Dame in 1:48.  Waldner must win his next three matches to finish third in state.

Dawson Jones 126 lbs and Colten Gibson 220 lbs also dropped their quarterfinal matches today.

Jones was beat by Zach Redwine of Pleasant Hill by major decision.  Kade Wilmes of Maryville then beat Jones in the second round of wrestlebacks.

Dalton Bingman of Priory beat Gibson and Steven Johnson of Fulton eliminated his by pinning him in 1:49 in the second round of wrestleback.

Bryston Pemberton 120 lb weight class and Jett Featherston 195 lb weight class both lost their matches in the second round of wrestlebacks.

Braxton Rickart of Excelsior Springs pinned Pemberton in 1:12 and Judah Christopherson of Lincoln Prep beat Featherston 3-1.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School Lady Bearcats held their Senior Night on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Bearcat Event Center.

Natalie Sitze is the daughter of Eric and DeLisa Sitze.

Natalie’s activities include: varsity basketball and volleyball, Beta Club, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, FCCLA, and Chamber Choir.

Her future plans after high school are undecided at this time.

Her most memorable moments are going to the STATE MSHSAA girls basketball tournament her sophomore year and chipping her tooth at the Turkey Shootout.

Chaylea Mosby is the daughter of Angela Mosby.

She is a member of the girls basketball team.

She is a member of the Sr. Beta Club, and the varsity softball team.

Chaylea has signed to play basketball at Three Rivers College next year.

Her most memorable moments at Dexter High School are going to the STATE MSHSAA girls basketball tournament her sophomore year and when Coach Sitze kicked the trash can across the locker room!

Her future plans are to attend Mississippi State University.

Her most memorable moments at Dexter High School are going to the STATE MSHSAA girls basketball tournament her sophomore year and when Coach Allen did the splits at sectionals her freshman year.
