James David "Jimmy" Chaffin, age 44, died February 12, 2019 at his home in Sikeston.

He was born October 14, 1974 in Dexter, Missouri, the son of Jackie and Carolyn (Matney) Hays Sr. of Morehouse, Missouri and the late James David Chaffin Sr.

Jimmy was a member of First Baptist Church of Morehouse and had worked as a welder.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, James David Chaffin III of Benton, Missouri, Trevor Chaffin stationed with the U.S. Marines in Yuma, Arizona, and Tyler Chaffin of Jackson, Missouri; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Jackie & Heather Hays Jr. of Morehouse, David Chaffin of Dover, Arkansas, and Stanley Clark Jr. of Vanduser, Missouri; one sister, Misty Chaffin-McCabe of Dover, Arkansas; and his stepmother, Donna Howell of Dover, Arkansas.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert & Luzell Matney; paternal grandmother, Mary Hays; and paternal grandfather, Samuel Chaffin.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 15, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery at Dexter, Missouri.
