Kindergarten Students Earn Positive Office Referral Awards

Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honored Kindergarten students, with Positive Office Referral certificates.

This award was presented to students who consistently showed the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN.

Each student received a certificate and a FREE Taco from Taco Bell.

Dexter School Board Meeting Minutes - January 15, 2019

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter School Board met on January 15, 2019 for a regular school board meeting.  Below are the minutes from that meeting.  The board approved a resolution calling for a special school bond election for $15,000,000 no tax increase general obligation bond issue to be held on April 2, 2019.  The board also approved the school calendar for the 2019-20 school year.  The calendar will have 168 days of student attendance at 380 minutes per day.    

Minutes, January 15, 2019

1,2,3.   Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge  The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members with Mr. Herman Morse being absent.  He then leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Amy James was approved as acting Board Secretary for the meeting.

4.  Consent Agenda:   The Consent Agenda was approved.

5.  Public Comments:  There were no public comments made.    

6.  Old Business:  

A.    None

7.  New Business: 

    A.  The board approved a resolution calling for a special school bond election for $15,000,000 no tax increase general obligation bond issue to be held on April 2, 2019.   

    B.  The board approved the school calendar for the 2019-20 school year.  The calendar will have 168 days of student attendance at 380 minutes per day.    

    C.  The board approved summer school dates for this year.  Summer school will start on May 20th and run thru June 14, 2019.

8.  Discussion Items:

     A.  The nurse's report was given to the board.

     B.   The instructional coaches gave a report to the board to illustrate how they are working to improve education for the students. 

     C.   Discussed Missouri Assessment Partnership with the board.  The district will join the partnership to help guide state testing in the future.

     D.  The building principals gave their reports to the board. 

     E.  The superintendent gave his report to the board.

     F.   The superintendent gave an update on the school board election.

           Nancy Mayer, Ron Glaus and Herman Morse have signed up to 

           run for the two open positions.

     G.   School Board Appreciation and Recognition week is set for February 10-16, 2019. If you get a chance please Thank our board for all of their support they give us.   

     H.  The November board meeting was set for February 19, 2019 at 6:00.              

In Closed Session:

    1.     The board approved substitute additions for 2018-19.  Kendra Noyes

    2.      The board approved a one year extension for the superintendent contract.

    3.    The board approved the resignation of Shelly Fisher-Dille effective immediately.

Bernie Elementary 6th Graders Make Honor Roll
Bernie, Missouri - Bernie Elementary School has announced their 2018 2nd Quarter Honor Roll students for Ms. Beth Noe's 6th grade class.  Students must maintain a B average to be on the Honor Roll each quarter.

Successful, lifelong learners set aside a time and a space every day to do their homework. Student who can manage their daily workload have a better chance of attaining academic success.
