Kenny McGuire, son of the late Hubert McGuire and Oble Fenton McGuire was born on February 8, 1933 in Zion, Arkansas and departed this life on January 23, 2019 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at the age of 85.

Mr. McGuire was the owner and operator of Kerr McGee Shell Station in Dexter for many years.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army, member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.

On October 1, 1960 he was united in marriage to Louise Sewell in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.  Mrs. McGuire survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son, James McGuire of Dexter, three brothers, Charles McGuire of Columbus, Indiana, B.A. McGuire and Raymond McGuire both of Dexter, three sisters, Barbara Fulford of Dexter, Susie Sewell and Sharon Asbell both of Franklin, Indiana, also by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Allan McGuire.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 26, 2019. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Pastor Bonnie Cannell officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Stephen Bradley Ritter, 57, better known as "Bubby," of Advance transitioned to his heavenly home, surrounded by his family and holding his mother's hand, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Bubby was born Dec. 9, 1961, in Advance to Carl "Pete" Ritter Sr and Carolyn Shell Ritter.

Bubby was a "miracle" baby with special needs and doctors predicting he would not live beyond the age of 5. Having a strong will to live, Bubby's uplifting spirit and the call of God on his life multiplied those years. Bubby's passions in life were Jesus, family/friends, food, music and sports. Bubby accepted Jesus as his savior at a young age and served Him joyfully all his life. He often witnessed to others about the goodness of God and never hesitated to tell his friends and family, and even strangers, to get right with God. He was a member of Bethel General Baptist Church.

Bubby never forgot a kindness shown to him. He was loved by so many, and he returned that love with a divine purity. He forever loved Mrs. Sophie True, his homeschool teacher, he was devoted to his Granny Ritter and spent most nights with her in her little house across the street. He said he was there to take care of her and after they were in bed, she would always ask him to get her a Sprite. Bubby loved eating and his mother always made his favorites -- mac 'n cheese, chicken 'n dumplings, polish sausage and sauerkraut, gravy and biscuits and, of course, a big ole "baloney" sandwich.

Bubby loved music. He loved listening to Gospel and Country on the radio. He ministered to so many friends when singing "How Great Thou Art" and "Hallelujah Square."

Bubby loved sports -- basketball, baseball and hockey. His dad was a basketball coach, and Bubby attended every game, winning the hearts of the fans throughout Southeast Missouri. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and followed the St. Louis Blues and the Three Rivers Raiders on television and his trusty radio. His favorite sports announcer was Rusty Hendricks.

We are sure Bubby is now marveling over his new heavenly body and singing with Granny Ritter and Grandma Lyla and many other friends in The Hallelujah Square.

Bubby was blessed with an older brother, Carl Ritter Jr.; sister-in-law Angie Ritter; a nephew, Jared Ritter, and wife Jaime; a niece, Kacie Ritter-Patton; two great-nephews, Jerron Patton and Pacey Gerler; and two great-nieces, Blakley Ritter and Karter Patton, all of Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Ritter and Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to 18 Fore Life.

John David Jenkins, son of the late George Edward Jenkins and Irene Fay Musgrave Jenkins was born on January 16, 1951 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on January 22, 2019 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 68 years.

Mr. Jenkins attended the Malden United Methodist Church.  He was a volunteer fire fighter for 38 years in Dexter and retired as Captain.  He was a longtime mechanic for Webber Motors.

On November 15, 1969 he was united in marriage to Connie Aubuchon in Bloomfield, Missouri.  Mrs. Jenkins survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, Connie, he was survived by; two sons, John Robert Jenkins and wife Cheryl of Chaffee, Mo and David Ross Jenkins and wife Betty Jo of Sikeston, Mo; one brother, Dan Jenkins and wife Mary of Jacksonville, Fl; one grandson, John-David Ross Jenkins.

Hattie Mae Robinson/Brown/Bennett was the first child of Kelcy Robinson and Grace Link Robinson, born September 3, 1914. She departed this life January 21, 2019 at the age of 104 years, four months and 18 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Mamie (McClard) Robinson; sisters Pearl Robinson and Mary Staggs; husband Vador Brown, son Donald E. Brown, and her second husband Calvin Bennett.

She is survived by one son, Roy Brown of Twin Falls, Idaho and daughter-in-law Cleo Brown; granddaughters Vickie Shaffer and Gary; Dawn Chandler and Phil; Colleen Fairbairn and Cameron, all of Marshfield, MO. Karen Brown of Hartville, MO; Jenny Brown of Missouri; Grace Sweatfield and Steven of Twin Falls, ID; grandsons Greg Brown and David Brown of Oregon. Also, four sisters: Wilma Clodfelter of Grand Blanc, MI, Wonda Faith of Granite City, IL; Edith Gardner and Charles of Edwardsville, IL; Edna Biggs of Jackson, MO; one brother, Hansel Robinson of Branson, MO; Fourteen great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.  Hattie also has many nieces, nephews and friends who contributed to a life of love and fond memories. 

Hattie made her profession of faith in Jesus as a young woman at a revival at Hill Church in Dexter. She was a little disappointed when she was told she had to wait until spring to be baptized.

Hattie married Vador Brown in 1933; they began their 54 years together in Dexter; then traveled around before settling down in southern Idaho where they stayed until moving to the Ozarks in 1975. Family gatherings and fishing and camping trips with family were a source of special memories of these years.

In Hattie’s later years, she lived in an assisted living facility in Marshfield, MO, visits from her great-great grandchildren were the highlight of these days.  Her final days were spent at Hartville Care Center where she charmed many residents and care givers and will be missed.

Phillip S. Hendrix, son of the late Andrew Hendrix and Margaret Crawford, was born on March 20, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on January 21, 2019 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 69 years.

Mr. Hendrix had been a welder for Arvin Automotive.  He was a resident of Dexter, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Raydean Morgan in October 1978 in Dexter, Missouri.  Mrs. Hendrix survives him of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, John Hendrix of Fort Myers Beach, Florida; by two daughters, Christy Slaughter of Bloomfield, Missouri and Shannon Curten of Lonedell, Missouri; by three brothers, David Hendrix of Mississippi, Stanley “Spanky” Hendrix of Dexter, Missouri and Mark Hendrix of Chesterfield, Missouri; by one sister, Judy Reese of Dexter, Missouri and by two granddaughters.

A celebration of life will be held at Robbie D’s on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
