Bloomfield, Missouri - The annual Stoddard County Athletic Association (SCAA) Boys Basketball Tournament is underway at Bloomfield High School. The Junior Varsity match-up between the #4 seeded Woodland Cardinals and the #5 seeded Puxico Indians started the tournament. Woodland came out on top 40 - 27 eliminating the Indians on Monday, January 21, 2019.
Woodland outscored Puxico in three of the four periods. The first quarter was low scoring with Puxico only hitting one from the charity stripe. By half-time Woodland led 17 - 8. Puxico managed to outscore Woodland by 2 in the fourth, but it was not enough to overcome a 13 point gap.
Rafe Johnson tallied a team-high 14 points for the Cardinals on six buckets and was 2/4 at the charity stripe.
Puxico's Dalton Andrews earned a game-high 15 points. He finished with 7 two-pointers and one free throw.

Dexter JV earned the #1 seed; #2 Bernie, #3 Bloomfield, #4 Woodland, and #5 Puxico. Dexter, Bernie and Bloomfield all received a bye for the quarterfinal games.
#4 Woodland will play #5 Puxico at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st.
Dexter will play the winner of the Woodland vs Puxico game on January 24th at 4 p.m.
#2 Bernie JV will play #3 Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th.
Third place game will be on January 25th at 4 p.m. with the Championship game at 7 p.m.
Richland, Bell City, and Advance will not have junior varsity teams to participate.

Sikeston, Missouri - The Dexter Freshman Bearcats traveled to Sikeston Wednesday, January 9, 2019. The Bulldogs were very prepared for their match-up winning 84-17.
Cleo Taylor and JeQuelin West scored 14 points each for the Bulldogs, Tyler Owens tallied 12 points and Carson Beaird recorded 10 points.
Sikeston led 25-2 after one quarter, 45-9 at half-time 71- 12 at the end of the third.

Essex, Missouri - The Richland Rebels hosted the Advance Hornets on Thursday evening. Advance won in OT 87-81.
Jack Below scored a game-high 39 points for the Hornets.
ADvance (6-7, SCAA 4-1) led 18-13 at the end of the first period and 38-36 at half-time. Richland rallied to take a 57- 46 lead at the end of three.
The Rebels are having a good year with a 7-5 overall record and SCAA record 2-2.
Seth Whittley tallied 17 points, Zach Simm recorded 13 points, and Hunter Curtis finished with 10 points for Advance.
Daniel Petty scored a team-high 30 points for Richland. Tanner Freeman added 21 and Jackson Bell contributed 18 points.
Richland will travel to Oak Ridge on Tuesday, January 15th.
Advance will travel to Zalma on Tuesday, January 15th.
SCAA Tournament will be seeded this weekend and begin on January 21st - 25th.
