Marcus Greer Receives Top College Gridiron Honors

Murfreesboro, TN - Marcus Greer, son of Matt and Lisa Greer, received the Newcomer Iron Man Award from the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders football program.  The Iron Man Award is given to a football team member that displays high levels of leadership, discipline and hard work.

As an offensive lineman for the Blue Raiders, Greer was able to see a limited amount of time during the Vanderbilt, Old Dominion and UTEP games during the 2018 season prior to being declared a redshirt.

As a three-star Rvals athlete with over 21 offers, Marcus selected Middle Tennessee over Ohio State and Central Michigan.  Greer had a stellar high school career in St. Louis with the Chaminade Red Devils.

College football is an extraordinary challenge for student-athletes but one that is perfect for Marcus.   The honor of the Iron Man Award fits the personality and drive that will carry Marcus throughout the next four-years at MTSU.  There is a very high expectation that Marcus will move up quickly on the depth chart during the spring workouts and will see significant game time next year.

Middle Tennessee State finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 8-5 and 7-1 in the NCAA Conference USA.  They defeated the University of Alabama-Birmingham in the final game of the season 27-3 but lost to the same UAB bitter battle in the Conference Championship 25-27.

Greer has traveled with the team to New Orleans this week as MTSU Blue Raiders prepare to take on the Mountaineers of Appalachian State (10-2) in the New Orleans Blowl.   Television coverage will begin from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on ESPN at 8:00 PM.
