Thurman “Mike” Almond, age 76, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 peacefully in his home in Dexter, MO.
Mike was born on May 29, 1942 in Aid, Missouri to the late Thurman Autie Almond and Mamie Juldene Long Almond. In 1959, he met the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Becky Hubbard Almond. Together they had three sons, Todd Almond (Tina) of Piperton, TN, Keith Almond (Shelly) of Morley, MO, and was proceeded in death by Brant David Almond. He was a very proud grandpa to eight grandchildren, Heather Almond, Taylor M. Almond, Hunter Almond (Taylor), Tanner Almond (Sarah), Bailey Almond, Sydney Almond, Rylan Almond and two great-grandchildren, Grayson Almond and Jaxston Almond. Mike is survived by his sister Connie Almond of Sikeston, MO and was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Julia “Judy” Almond and grandson Blake Dawson Almond.
Mike retired from the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a Zone Sergeant in the Dexter area. He served in the United States military and retired as a Major with the Missouri Army National Guard. Mike attended the Dexter New Covenant Church. He had a passion for classic cars and cherished the comradery, friendships, and his time of service in both the Highway Patrol and National Guard. Mike’s sense of humor and laughter first attracted his wife, Becky, to him. He often reminisced with friends over fun times and the music of the 1950’s. He was a wonderful man and our love for him will live on in our memories forever.
