In Memory of Barbara Jean Forkum
Barbara Jean Forkum, daughter of the late Burette Whitener and Pearl Mae “Bayran” Whitener was born on February 7, 1932 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on November 9, 2018 at the Crowley Ridge Nursing Home in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 86 years.

Mrs. Forkum enjoyed watching children at her home for a living.  She enjoyed reading her Bible and was of Baptist faith.  She has always been a very good cook and loved to cook a big Sunday lunch for whoever showed up.  Always put out a big veggie garden and it would last all summer.  She also enjoyed her flower garden and was a hardworking lady, no matter what she was doing. If you were going to help her, you better plan on working hard.

On October 29, 1977 she was united in marriage to Dayton Forkum in Dexter.  He preceded her in death on August 25, 1998.

Survivors include: two sons, Gary Huffman and wife Lynn of Bloomfield and Randy Huffman and wife Robin of Dexter; three daughters, Debbie Kirby and husband Pat of Dexter, Pam Huffman of Dexter and Sonia Huffman of Dexter; by one step-son, Larry Forkum of Malden; by two sisters, Joyce Kiker of St. Louis and Dorothy Collier of St. Louis; by many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a special friend, Sue Tippen

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two step-sons, Kenneth Forkum and Jim Forkum, two brothers, Tommy Whitener and Manuel Whitener, four sisters, Lois Kennison, Doris Schaeffer, Carolyn Rodawald and Audrey Duckett.

A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chalk Bluff Cemetery with Rev. Ken McAnulty officiating for all family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UCAN at 2620 N. Westwood Blvd., Poplar Bluff, Mo 63901 or Stoddard County Children’s Home at PO Box 164, Bloomfield, Mo 63825.

In Memory of Terry Lee Fortner
Terry Lee Fortner, son of the late William Thomas Fortner and Violet Lee Fortner was born on August 15, 1952 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on November 9, 2018 at SoutheastHealth of Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 66 years.

Mr. Fortner was the owner of TL Fortner Properties and was a cattle farmer. He was a former member of the Missouri National Guard. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, flipping houses and working with his cattle.

On December 24, 1970 he was united in marriage to Lynn Smith in Dexter. Mrs. Fortner survives of the home in Bloomfield.

Survivors include: one son, Jason Fortner (Amanda) of Bloomfield; one daughter, Stacey Anthony (Robby) of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, Trevor Fortner, Tyler Fortner, Madison McConnell, Wyatt McConnell; one step granddaughter, McKenzie Anthony; one brother, Richard Fortner of Texas; and one sister, Sharon Rowe of Dexter.

Friends may call the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 12:00 (Noon) to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

In Memory of Charles Edward Stanfill
Charles Edward Stanfill, son of the late Johnie R. Stanfill and Lizzie M. Trammel Stanfill was born on December 8, 1933 in Bernie, Missouri and departed this life on November 6, 2018 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 84 years.

Mr. Stanfill was a Veteran in the United States Army. He worked as a carpenter for Tyler Pipe Industries in Tyler, Texas. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas and was currently living in Dexter, Missouri.

Survivors include: one son, Tony Myrick of Dexter; two daughters, Derenda Underwood (Rick) of Dexter and Charlene Heflin of Dexter; seven grandchildren, Heather Greer, Heath Hunsaker, Dylan Heflin, Justice Heflin, Devin Myrick, Tracy Dawson and Chris Waters; seven great-grandchildren, Emily Smith, Layken Smith, Baron Greer, Symphony Hunsaker, Sebastian Hunsaker, Victoria Hunsaker and Emma Myrick.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Victoria Lee Waters, one brother, Cletus Board and one sister, Shirley Smith.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 9, 2018 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Blake Brown officiating. 

Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.

In Memory of Betty Reynolds Acton
Betty Reynolds Acton, daughter of the late Cletus Denkins and Julia Menley Denkins was born on January 6, 1936 in Essex, Missouri and departed this life on November 5, 2018 at the Dexter Living Center in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 82 years.

Betty owned and operated Betty’s TV and Radio Repair.  She was a member of the Southwest Church of Nazarene in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter.

On January 6, 1956 she was united in marriage to E. J. Reynolds and to that union three sons were born. Mr. Reynolds preceded her in death on December 15, 1985.  On June 15, 1996 she was then united in marriage to Dewayne Berl Acton.  Mr. Acton preceded her in death on December 17, 2003.

Survivors include: two sons, Don Reynolds (Theresa) of Dexter and Rick Reynolds of Bloomfield; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Reynolds of Dexter; three brothers, Bill Denkins of Puxico, Ted Denkins of Dexter and David Denkins of Bloomfield; by seven grandchildren, Dawson Reynolds, Dakota Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds (Amanda), Major Will Reynolds (Nikki), Amanda Cochnan, Jennifer Watson and Josh Reynolds; ten great-grandchildren, Josh Reynolds, Sarah Reynolds, McKenzie Harper Reynolds, Joanna Shelby Reynolds, Levi Cochran, Kira Cochran, Payton Cochran, Americas Watson, Joslin Watson and Lance Watson.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Reynolds; two sisters, Shirley Jeter and Wilena Tompkins.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 8, 2018 with Rev. Dwight Hensley officiating. 

Interment will follow in the South Pleasant Valley Cemetery (Triplett).

Ashlie Kennedy, daughter of Melanie Ann Kennedy Shake, was born in Dexter, Missouri on July 12, 1980, and passed away at her home in Dexter, Missouri on November 2, 2018, at the age of 38 years, 3 months and 20 days.

She had lived in Dexter, Missouri all of her life. She attended the First Church of God of Dexter, Missouri. She loved hunting arrowheads and making jewelry.

Surviving are one son, Theron Thomas Unger of Sikeston, Missouri; her mother Melanie Ann Shake of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one sister, Angela Hays of Dexter, Missouri; her maternal grandmother, Shirley Kennedy of Dexter, Missouri; four uncles and aunt, Ben Kennedy of Bernie, Missouri; Terry Kennedy of Puxico, Missouri, Mike Kennedy of Dexter, Missouri and Patricia Sharp of St. Peters, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends also survive. Ashlie was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Amos Kennedy and sister, Amy Dawn Kennedy.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, after 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 7, 2018, at 12:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Elder Dearvin McClellan of Dexter, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in the Sadler's Chapel Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
