Joshua Heath Monroe, son of David Monroe and Diana Winstead Monroe both of Sikeston, was born on August 20, 1984 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and departed this life on September 30, 2018 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 34.

Josh owned Monroe’s Landscaping and Lawn Care in Sikeston Missouri. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield and a man who never met a stranger.  He was a fun loving dad, a hard worker, family man and enjoyed being outside. The love of music is what led him to his greatest love on this earth, Stephanie. Together they had two beautiful sons, Jiles and Mylan, who were the light of Josh's life. Josh will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his love of the outdoors, and his unending love for his sons.

On February 6, 2010 he was united in marriage to Stephanie Swindell in Bloomfield, Missouri. Mrs. Monroe survives of the home.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by; two sons, Jiles Monroe and Mylan Monroe of Dexter; two brothers, Matt Monroe of Mayfield, Kentucky and Dustin Monroe of O’Fallon, Missouri; three sisters, Molly Jewell of Natural Dam, Arkansas, Chrissy Earley of Paducah, Kentucky and Jennifer Ludditt of Fenton, Missouri; by his maternal grandparents, Shirley and Richard Winstead of Paducah, Kentucky; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ed Monroe and Lola Monroe. 

Friends may call the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Alice Fowler officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

Patricia C. Watkins of Puxico, formerly of Essex, daughter of the late Cecil Monroe and Myrtle Asher Chism, was born in Charter Oak, Missouri on September 26, 1946, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on September 28, 2018, at the age of 72 years and 2 days.

Pat had lived in Essex before moving to Puxico three years ago. She had worked thirty plus years as a teacher at DAEOC Head Start, and was a member of the Harvest Assembly Church in Essex, after moving to Puxico she attended Duck Creek Baptist Church. Her heart's focus was Christ, friends and family.

On May 31, 1963, she was married to Leon Watkins in Catron, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2018.

Surviving are two daughters, Diana Devore of Swinton, Mellody Wheetley of Puxico; adopted son & wife, Buck & Jessica Cruse of Puxico; five grandchildren & spouses, Jennifer & Mark Newell and Jessica Steele all of Dexter, Roger & Taylor Cochran II of Cape Girardeau, Alanna Newman of Poplar Bluff, Hunter Wheetley of Puxico; ten great grandchildren, Austin, Makaila, Amberly, Kaidence, Tia, Landon, Sam, Jaclyn, Sara Kate and Adeline; two brothers, Stan Chism of Copperas Cove, Texas, Billy Dial of Demopolis, Alabama; one sister Jean Ann Wilson of Gray Ridge, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Lanny Watkins.

Friends may visit on Sunday, September 30, 2018, after 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 3:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Bro. Buck Cruse of Puxico officiating.

Interment will be in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Roger L. Triplett, son of the late Charles N “Nob” Triplett and Betty Lynn Baker Triplett was born on January 4, 1939 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on September 26, 2018 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri at the age of 79 years.

Mr. Triplett was a Veteran and retiree from the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War.  He was an active member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439 in Dexter where he was past State President of the Elks.

On June 10, 1961 he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Keller.  Mrs. Triplett preceded him in death on April 11, 2015.

Survivors include:  three sons, Mike Triplett of Dexter, Missouri, Chris Triplett of Montgomery, Texas and Kevin Triplett of Algonquin, Illinois; by one brother, Richard Triplett of Saint George, Utah; by two sisters, Vicci Ross of Essex, Missouri and Debbie Bell of Dexter; by eight grandchildren, Derrick Triplett, Andrew Triplett, Victoria Mikeska, Cameron Mikeska, Paige Triplett, Blake Triplett, Myla Triplett and Vera Shirley Triplett,  and by three great-grandchildren, Noah, Taybie and Hunter.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

An Elk’s service will be conducted on Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Loonie officiating. 

Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Cleo D. Holder, son of the late Cecil Cleo Holder and Emma Baird Holder was born on May 7, 1932 in Blodgett, Missouri and departed this life on September 27, 2018 at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Holder was a Veteran for the United States Army.  He owned and operated Cleo’s Service Station in Dexter for 58 years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter for many years and was a resident of Dexter.

On October 15, 1954 he was united in marriage to Glenda Brown at the First Christian Church in Dexter.  Mrs. Holder survives of the home in Dexter.

Survivors include; his wife Glenda; two sons, Terry Holder of Dexter and Tim Holder (Kaye) of Dexter; by one sister, Norma Jean (Jeannie) Triplett of Dexter; by two grandchildren, Kristin Holder and Kelsey Holder.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Mae Mitchell.

Melissa "Missy Bug" Gail Gaines Haines was born on October 17, 1968 in Dexter, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Melvin Earl Gaines and the late Barbara Sue Stanley Gaines and passed on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 49 years 11 months and 6 days.

Melissa "Missy Bug" Gail Gaines Haines lived in Malden, Bernie and Dexter most of her life. She was a daughter, wife, sister, mother, nana, aunt and friend.

Survivors are her husband of 21+ years, love of her life and best friend: Christopher Michael Haines Sr. of Dexter. Three daughters, Ashley & Morgan Hancock of Hampton, Virginia, Patricia Haines of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Arielle & Thomas Swift III of Dubuque, Iowa; three sons, Christopher, Jr. & Laura Haines of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Michael & Lauren Haines of Fenton, Missouri, John & Meredith Haines of Birmingham, Alabama; one sister, Kimberly Wichern of Nashville, Tennessee. She was nana to: eleven grandchildren, Ethan Hancock, Eric Hancock, Thomas Swift IV, Masen Haines, Lillian McCool, Katelynn Haines, Liam Tenney, Melissa Tenney, Nathaniel Haines, Ava Swift and Elijah Swift. One son Jordan Lee Haines preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Friday, September 28, 2018, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Steve Fitzpatrick of Bernie, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sadler Chapel Cemetery near Dexter, with Watkins & Sons Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.

Family request High Heel Shoes to be sent instead of flowers. They will be donated to the Stoddard County Gospel Mission after the service.
