Marianne Bruce Retires From Dexter Public Schools

Dexter, Missouri - Marianne Bruce graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in biology and then earned her Masters in Education from Southeast Missouri State University - Cape Girardeau.

She taught high school science at Portageville, Risco and Richland before coming to Dexter in 2013.  She is retiring with over 30 years of classroom experience.

Congratulations Mrs. Bruce on your retirement!

Connie Heil Retires from Dexter Public Schools

Dexter, Missouri - A Teachers Retirement Tea was hosted in the Bearcat Event Center in Dexter for retiring staff.

Connie Heil graduated from Mississippi State University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

Her teaching career spanned 24 years and included time in Germany, Louisiana, Hallsville, Missouri and Savannah, Missouri prior to her arrival at Dexter in 2005.

Congratulations Mrs. Heil on your retirement!

Dexter Schools Honors 2018 Retirees

Dexter, Missouri - Seven staff members from Dexter Schools and two people from the Dexter Schools Credit Union were honored at the Bearcat Event Center upon their retirement.

The six certified teachers and one non-certified classroom aid represented almost two hundred years of service in education.

Pictured are retiring staff members of Dexter Schools from left to right Dr. Michele Williams, Connie Heil, and Nancy Wright.  Standing are Marianne Bruce, Tania Reiker, and Teresa Kapelski.  Unalbe to attend the event was retiring third grade teacher, Kendra Ward.  Also honored, but not pictured were Gene Potthoff and Dottie Parrish of the Dexter Schools Credit Union.

Tyler Stevenson Named to Harding University Dean's List

Tyler Stevenson, senior exercise science major from Dexter, Missouri is among more than 1,200 Harding University students included on the Dean's List for grades achieved during the spring 2018 semester.

The Dean's List is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, University Provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship.

To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more credit hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.

Tyler is the son of Keith Stevenson and Kay Stevenson and is a 2016 graduate of Dexter High School.

Glick Earns Foundation Scholarship
 Ryan Glick of the Class of 2018 has been awarded the $1,000 Poplar Bluff Public School Foundation scholarship designated for a PBHS student, past of present, planning to become a teacher.
 
Having already earned 30 credits from Three Rivers College through the High School’s dual credit program, Glick intends on continuing his higher education at the community college and then transferring to Missouri State University in Springfield to pursue a degree in history education.
 
Glick wrote in his essay that he wishes to one day return to his hometown of Poplar Bluff to start his teaching career. His mother, Kim Glick, works as a social studies instructor at PBHS. Since 2001, the Foundation scholarship has been awarded to 20 PBHS students, several of whom went on to teach for the R-I school district.
