Central Elementary 3rd Grade Honor Roll for 4th Quarter 2018

Dexter, Missouri - Central Elementary School announced their 2018 4th Quarter Honor Roll students for 3rd grade.  Students must maintain a B average to be on the Honor Roll each quarter.

Making the honor roll is not as easy as one might think.  Central Elementary students who are high achievers acquire and develop excellent study habits and skills, especially in time management.  

Successful, lifelong learners set aside a time and a space every day to do their homework. Student who can manage their daily workload have a better chance of attaining academic success.

McKuin Named to President's List at Williams Baptist College
Williams Baptist University has released the names of students on the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2018 spring semester.  The President’s List includes those full-time students who achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while the Dean’s List is comprised of those with at least a 3.5 GPA.

Williams is a Christian, liberal arts university in Walnut Ridge.  The spring semester was its last to operate as Williams Baptist College, as the school’s name is changing to Williams Baptist University this summer.

Melanie McKuin, Dexter graduate, earned a spot on the President’s List.  She achieved a 4.0 GPA for the Spring Semester.

Melanie McKuin is the daughter of Barry and Kimmy McKuin.

She played basketball all 4 years of high school and ran track her freshman and sophomore years.

Melanie was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Foreign Language Club, Future Teachers of America, Dexter Honor Society, and was in the Top 10% of her class.

She was also voted 2016 Winter Homecoming Queen.

She was a member of the All-State Girls Basketball Team, First Team All-District Girls Basketball Team, SEMO All Conference Girls Basketball Team, SEMO Conference Player of the Year and Standard Democrat Player of the Year during her junior year as a Bearcat!  She was a McDonalds' Shootout All-Tournament Team member and Lady Royals Christmas Classic All-Tournament Team team member for both her junior and senior years.

Melanie is playing basketball and majoring in pre-pharmacy at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

Williams Baptist College is a four-year, Christian, liberal arts college. Williams is known for its academic excellence and personal attention, with a student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1, as well as its warm, Christ-centered environment. There are over 500 students on WBC’s main campus at Walnut Ridge, Ark., and a total enrollment of about 600. Most students live in on-campus residence halls and apartments.

Musical Theater Camp Offered for Students 1st -6th Grades

Dexter, Missouri - Musical Theater Camp will be offered June 4th - 8, 2018 at the Dexter High School Auditorium. 

Students currently in 1st - 6th Grade will learn all aspects of musical theater performance and production.  They will also present a short scene from the musical The Sound of Music.

The Camp will be from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. each day.

2nd Graders at Southwest Elementary Earn 3Rs Flag
Dexter, Missouri - The Second Grade classroom of Mrs. Willa Fees earned the Southwest Elementary Positive Behavioral Support Reward Flag for March 2018.

School Wide Positive Behavioral Support (SWPBS) award is presented at the start of each month at Southwest Elementary.  One classroom in each grade is recognized for exhibiting the high character with regard to observing the school's 3R's.

The 3R's stand for being Respectful, Ready to Learn and Responsible.  The class with the highest attendance average, combined with the fewest disciplinary measures and general good character are awarded a 3R red flag to be posted in their classroom for the next month.  The students are also awarded "Cat in the Hat" capes to wear and parade around the gym before returning to class.  This year's theme is Dr. Seuss!
