Churches Come Together to Worship at Bearcat Event Center

Churches Come Together to Worship at Bearcat Event Center

Dexter, Missouri - On Sunday, February 4, 2018 three churches are coming together to worship at the Bearcat Event Center; however the event is open to the public so anyone may attend.

"We are doing this for a few reasons," commented Greg McGhee of the First Baptist Church in Dexter.  "It's DNOW weekend and space at our church has run out and it's no longer a First Baptist Church event anymore, more and more churches are getting involved.  Also it is an opportunity to get other churches to participate in the Sunday final service of DNOW."

"In John 17 Jesus prayed 'may they (talking about us) be one as you (his Father) and I are one so that the world may know that you have sent Me."

"We are expecting about 1,000 people in attendance," continued McGhee.  "We will also have Harris III speaking and performing that morning as well as the DNOW Band."

Harris III is a Christian magician.  With over 20 years of experience through thousands of performances as an illusionist, storyteller, and renowned communicator, Harris has helped audiences around the globe discover a life beyond their imagination. Named “one of America’s most influential young people” by the Catalyst Conference, Harris has made a variety of film, television, and live event appearances during the course of his 20-year career.

An offering will be taken from those in attendance with all proceeds going to benefit Backpack for Friday program as a way of pouring back into the community.

Anyone may attend the service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 4th at the Bearcat Event Center.

If your church would like to participate or you have further questions please contact Greg McGhee at the First Baptist Church at (573) 624-7436.

Local Church Encourages People to Eat at Huddle House

Local Church Encourages People to Eat at Huddle House

Dexter, Missouri - After a recent Hepatitis A scare, local residents have been afraid to go back to the Huddle House in Dexter, Missouri.  An employee recently was diagnosed with the illness and worked in the restaurant for about a week.

Please remember that Hep A can be anywhere and not just restaurant related.  You can pick it up touching a grocery cart if the previous person had not washed their hands after using the bathroom, plain and simple....wash your hands often especially after using the restroom!

"Right now that's probably the cleanest restaurant in southeast Missouri," commented first Baptist Church Pastor Mark Smith.  "We heard this restaurant was hurting and wanted to do something as we need our local restaurants to do well."

Pastor Smith has challenged his members to eat at Huddle House on Sunday afternoon in shifts so as not to overwhelm them at one time.  Please note there may be a longer wait than usual due to all the people coming between noon - 3 p.m.

"I really wanted to raise awareness that we support local residents and shop in Dexter," continued Smith.  "They have good food at a good price and we are going to show everyone that we can survive eating there and so can you!"

"Where I pastored before there was a struggling restaurant and we would take people there who were visiting our church.  We want to bless this restaurant and hopefully by taking the first step and challenge others to eat there we can make a difference. It was such an inspiration in our community to help a hurting merchant and it is important to support our local businesses."

If you have an opportunity please take the time to check out their vast menu and great prices!

The ShowMe Times will spotlight local restaurants from now until Valentine's Day with their recent #DexterFirst campaign.  Stay tuned to exciting prizes each week!
