In Memory of Shirley Ann Brooks
Shirley Ann Brooks 75 at Puxico, Missouri died March 12, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving and caring family. She is at peace after a battle with A.L.S.

Shirley was born April 22, 1942. She was married to her loving husband on December 22, 1956. 61 years past since she and Dickie were united in marriage. They were married in Clarksdale, Mississippi. 

Shirley maintain gainful employment at the Mellinckodt Chemical Company Until her retirement in 1997. She loved her family dearly and she loved spending time with them as they often vacationed in Branson and other destinations. She loved the outdoors as she felt in tune with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved animals and was kind to everyone and all of God’s creatures. She loved plants, flowers and she loved working in her yard.

Her prized love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They meant the entire world to her and brought her sunshine even in the most gloomy of times.

She was a faithful member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and everyone that knew her knew that when they saw her she would greet them with a warm greeting and a tight hug.

Leaving to cherish the most precious of memories is her husband, he dickey as well as two children, Debbie (Jerome) Merwin and Robin (Samuel) Lucas; for grandchildren, Shannon (Sabina) McMurty, Rachel (Eric) Allmon, Trish (Scott) English and Kris (Josh) Johnson as well as 11 great-grandchildren. 

She will be missed by all that knew her beautiful and vibrant smile.

In Memory of Kenneth Lee Simpson
Kenneth Lee Simpson, son of Kenneth Simpson of Wappapello, Missouri and the late Barbara Sue Phillips Simpson was born on August 30, 1967 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on March 13, 2018 in the emergency room at the Southeast Health of Stoddard County in Dexter at the age of 50 years.

Kenneth was a truck driver for Republic Services in rural Dexter, Missouri and was a resident of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He attended the New Life Baptist Church in Wappapello.

Survivors include: his father, Kenneth Simpson of Wappapello, Missouri; daughter, Kayla Simpson of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; brother, Michael Simpson of St. Charles, Missouri and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the New Life Baptist Church in Wappapello, Missouri.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

In Memory of LouAnn (Nelson) Doyle
LouAnn (Nelson) Doyle of Evansville, IN, was born on March 30, 1954, in Huntingburg, IN, and passed away on March 12, 2018. 

LouAnn was the daughter of the late Geneva Faulkner and George Wheeler Nelson. On August 13, 1994, she married Robert Doyle, who preceded her in death on February 4, 2009. 

LouAnn graduated from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, MO, in 1972, and from Southeast Missouri State University in 1977.  She had worked as a purchasing agent and buyer with Ralston Corporation (Golden Cat) in Bloomfield, MO.  LouAnn was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Newburgh, where she volunteered in the nursery and served as a pre-service greeter. 

She is survived by daughters, Lori Holladay Sparrenberger (Ben) of Evansville, IN and Holly Bowen (Dan) of Erie, PA; son, Ryan Hopkins of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Hayden Morse and  Kyle Holladay of Evansville, IN, Sydni Bargel, Skylar Hopkins, Levi Lesonik, and Nathaniel Bowen of Erie, PA; sister, Nancy Nelson Vines of Dexter, MO; and brothers Patrick Nelson of Mena, AR; Mike Nelson of Foster, KY; and John Nelson of Arvada, CO. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Denny Stevenson officiating.   

Memorial Contributions may be made to:  Amercian Cancer Society at P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, Vanderburgh Humane Society at P.O. Box 6711, Evansville, IN 47719, or Crossroads Christian Church at 10800 Lincoln Ave, Newburgh, IN 47630.

In Memory of Gerald Hurley
Gerald Hurley, son of the late Jesse Wheeler Hurley and Edna Lee Fullerton Hurley, was born in Steele, Missouri on March 5, 1934 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie, Missouri on March 12, 2018 at the age of 84.

Mr. Hurley was a United States Army Veteran, he later worked for Browns Construction until his retirement.

He was united in marriage to Annita Scales in Bernie, Missouri on July 26, 1954.   Mrs. Hurley survives her husband in their home in Bernie.

Other survivors include two sons, Tim Hurley of Bernie, Missouri and Steven Hurley & fiancee Melissa McLard Of Bernie, Missouri; by one daughter, Cheryl Tischer & husband Paul of Bernie, Missouri; by two brothers, Glen Hurley of Malden, Missouri and Jim Hurley of Bloomfield, Missouri; by two sisters, Bonnie Beyer of Dexter, Missouri and Ruth Reed of Puxico, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Natasha, Taryn, TJ, Emilie and Kelsie; by seven great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death other than by his parents by one sister, Lois Mills.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. 

Funeral Services will then be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Full Military Honors.

In Memory of Lois Charline DeJournett
Lois Charline DeJournett of Bloomfield, daughter of the late Hugh Dewitt and Imogene Rogers DeBerry, was born in Kennett, Missouri on October 24, 1949, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on March 8, 2018, at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 12 days.

Mrs. DeJournett had lived in Bloomfield, Missouri most of her life. She enjoyed collecting dolls and her family.

On November 18, 1966, she was married to Terry Wayne DeJournett in Bloomfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2013.

Surviving are three sons, Lannie Joe DeJournett of Potosi, Missouri, Marvin Hugh DeJournett of Bloomfield, Missouri, Aaron Joe DeJournett of Boonville, Missouri; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Hughie DeBerry of White Oak, Missouri, Danny DeBerry of Florida, Johnny DeBerry of Dexter, Missouri; one sister, Lafonda Correll of Florida. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Clifton Wayne DeJournett.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018, after 11:00 am at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield until time for graveside services at 1:00 pm at the Bloomfield Cemetery with the Rev. James Malloy of Essex officiating.

Interment will be at the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
