Jefferson City, Missouri - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) invite Missouri public, private, and home-school students in grades K-8 to help fight litter in the Show-Me State -- and to have creative and educational fun -- by participating in the 2018 "Yes You CAN Make Missouri Litter-Free" trash-can-decorating contest. The annual contest is sponsored by MDC and MoDOT as part of the state's "No MOre Trash!" statewide litter campaign.

The contest encourages school classes and school groups to join in the fight against litter by decorating and displaying a large trash can with the "No MOre Trash!" logo and a litter-prevention message using a variety of creative media. Schools may submit one entry in each competition category: K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Entries are judged based on creativity, adherence to contest rules, and effective use of theme and logo.

First-place winners from each competition category receive $200 awarded to the sponsoring schools. All first-place winners are then eligible for a grand prize of a trophy and $600 awarded to the sponsoring school.

There is no entry fee for the contest. Participating school groups must submit a completed entry form online with up to three photos to nomoretrash.org by Friday, March 16. Motorists Reminded to Buckle Up and Arrive Alive

Dexter, Missouri - Dexter Police Department ticketed 6 motorists during the February 15 Click It or Ticket mobilization. Law enforcement agencies throughout Missouri participated in this statewide effort to get more motorists to buckle up — and save more lives. 

Despite evidence proving the benefits of wearing a seat belt, nearly one in five Missouri motorists are still not making it click. Even more concerning, six out of ten Missourians killed in traffic crashes are unbuckled. 

“Seat belts are your single best defense in a crash,” stated Chief Stone.  “We will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to buckle up and Arrive Alive.”

Presidents Day is a federal holiday which, in the United States, is observed on the third Monday in February.

This day is set aside, by more and more of America’s population, to honor all of the past United States Presidents that have served our country.  Two of our nation’s most prominent Presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, are brought to mind as we celebrate this day.  Their birth dates, which fall close to this same time, have been honored for decades and always will be.

Presidents Day is celebrated with public ceremonies in Washington, D.C. and throughout the United States.

The white male in these pictures is the suspect in a strong arm robbery that occurred at Break Time Convenience Store on February 14th, 2018 around 10:42pm. The unknown man fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
