2018 BHS Homecoming Sophomore Candidate

Bloomfield, Missouri - Bloomfield High School held their 2018 Winter Homecoming Coronation on Thursday, February 15th. Natalie Powell was the sophomore candidate.

Natalie is the daughter of Natasha Fornkohl and Eric Powell.  She is a member of the Sr. Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, and Pep Club.  She also plays volleyball and softball for the Wildcats.

Her hobbies include drawing and playing club volleyball.

Her future plans are to become a neonatal nurse and work in the NICU at a hospital.

Her escort was Sam Whitaker.

Sam is the son of John and Jennifer Whitaker.

He is active in Sr. Beta, Future Business Leaders of America, and he plays basketball.

His hobbies inlcude hanging with friends and playing basketball.

His future plans are to attend a college.

2018 BHS Homecoming Freshman Candidate

Bloomfield, Missouri - Bloomfield High School held their 2018 Winter Homecoming Coronation on Thursday, February 15th.  Freshman cadidate was Kaylea Hart.

Kaylea is the daughter of Nichole Musgrave and Corey Hart.  

She is active in Future Business Leaders of America and volleyball.

Her hobbies include shopping and playing volleyball.  She also enjoys attending church.

Her future plans are to attend cosmetology school after graduation from high school.

Her escort was Parker Heaton.

Parker is the son of Josh and Amy Heaton.

He is a member of the basketball team and is active in Sr. Beta and Future Business Leaders of America.

His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and playing guitar.

His future plans are to become a Veterinarian.

Bloomfield School Board Meeting Minutes - February 12, 2018

Bloomfield,  Missouri - The Bloomfield School Board met for their regularly schedule board meeting on Monday, February 12, 2018.  Below are the minutes from the meeting.

The board approved:

1.  Two policies and two procedures concerning cybersecurity;

2.  The 2018-19 School Calendar

3.  Donation of $100 to Project Prom and allow them to use school buses for the event;

4.  The solicitation of bus bids.

The building principals gave their building reports.  I informed the board of the district's MODOT bus inspection scheduled for March 16, the SEMO Superintendent's Banquet in April, and gave a legislative update.

In executive session, the board approved:

1.  Subsitutes Zach Goode, Allen Moss, Candace Hodges, and Christina Scherer pending proper

     paperwork

2.  The resignation of Timothy Bolin at the end of the 2017-18 school year

3.  The hiring of Amy Battles for JH volleyball assistant coach for the 2017-18 school year

4.  The extension of contracts through the 2019-20 school year for principals Sabrina Skaggs, Louis

     Bell, and Jason Karnes.

Bloomfield Native Named to Columbia College Dean's List

Columbia, Missouri -  Tim Fox, a Bloomfield high school graduate, was named recently to the list of students at Columbia College on the college's Fall Semester Dean's List.

To be named to the list, a student must have completed 12 semester hours in a 16-week period and achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Tim is a 2014 graduate of Bloomfield High School.  He is the son of Bill and Kim Fox. He has three brothers: Curt, Brad, and Paul. He plans on majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Sport Management.

Class Valedictorian…Was an Academic All-State selection in 2013 and 2014... Was named the 2014 Bill Harris Scholar-Athlete of the Year...Was two-time All-State Infielder…Was a three-time All-Conference Baseball Team selection…Was the 2014 SCAA Baseball Co-Player of the Year…Also played basketball...Played club baseball for the Charleston Fighting Squirrels...Participated in the 2013 and 2014 Sr. Babe Ruth World Series.

2014-2016: Attended Mineral Area College…Had a 4.0 GPA…Was named the 2014-2015 Scholar-Athlete of the Year...Earned MCCAC Distinguished Academic All-Conference recognition.

2017: Appeared in 23 games for the Cougars getting the start in 21 as a junior… Finished the season with a 0.380 batting average while accumulating 27 hits… Had a 0.549 slugging percentage and a 0.450 on base percentage… Stole one base on one attempt and scored 10 runs… Hit two home runs and six doubles while tallying 11 RBI’s… Finished with 38 defensive assists and a 0.985 fielding percentage… Named to the AMC All-Academic Team.

Bloomfield School Board Meeting Minutes - January 8, 2018

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield Board of Education met on Monday, January 8, 2018.

Sr Beta Club students Noah Hester, Parker Heaton, Dalton Phillips, and Jewell Chism  presented to the board.  They spoke about the state convention and other activities - the students did a great job presenting.

In other business, the board:

1.  Tabled the approval of policy/procedures until next month

2.  Approved Lauren Tippen as the Belcher Scholarship candidate for Bloomfield High School

3.  Approved the Bond Extension named Proposition A - this bond extension would keep the debt service levy the same and generate $1.35 million dollars for capital improvements.

4.  Reviewed the list of board candidates who have filed to date.  Scott Gibbs and Brad Warner have signed up.  Board sign ups close at 5 pm on Tuesday, Jan 16.

The principals each gave their building reports.  

Board Recognition Week is January 21-27, 2018.  Please take a few minutes to let our board members know how much we appreciate the time and effort they give to our district!

In executive session, the board:

1.  Approved Amy McDonald as a substitute pending proper paperwork and background check.

2.  Hired Lecia Dixon as special education teacher for the 2018-19 school year.

3.  Extended Superintendent Toni Hill's contract through the 2019-20 school year.
