In Memory of Donald Edward Gard

Donald Edward Gard, son of the late Arthur Vernon Gard and Gladys Steward Gard was born on May 12, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan, and departed this life on January 24, 2018 at the age of 74.
Mr. Gard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, the Vice President of Plant Operations for Health Systems, Inc., and a long-time resident of rural Dexter.
Don was a generous giver with a compassionate heart, and loved people. He enjoyed talking with folks and had a gift for telling stories and anecdote’s in a skillful and amusing way. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood carving. As a local “history buff,” he was a popular speaker at historical society meetings in Southeast Missouri. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and business associate to so many, and will be greatly missed.
He was united in marriage to Barbara June Atherton on May 1, 1964 and to this union, two sons were born. She preceded him in death on July 28, 2012. He was then married to Patti Miller on March 1, 2013 in Dexter, who survives at their home.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons and their spouses, Steven and Kristin Gard of Naperville, Illinois and Darrin and Crystal Gard of Headland, Alabama: by one step-daughter and her spouse, Natalie and Richard Osborne of Grapevine, Texas: by four grandchildren, Nathaniel Gard, Chelsea Gard, Abigail Grace Gard and Hayden Andrew Gard: by two step-grandchildren, Keylan Osborne (Sydney) and Dayton Osborne: by two brothers, Bill Gard of Pontiac, Michigan and Dave Gard of Bloomfield: by two sisters, Pam Millsaps of Niota, Tennessee and Jane Peacock of Scott City.
Visitation will be held in the First United Methodist Church in Dexter from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Sunday, January 28, 2018.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 29, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Beaton officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

In Memory of Sybil Pearl Lawrence

Sybil Pearl Lawrence formerly of Dexter, daughter of the late Samuel Allen and Myrtie Mae Lincoln Harper, was born in Idalia, Missouri on September 20, 1916, and passed away at her home in Cape Girardeau on January 20, 2018, at the age of 101 years and 4 months.
Mrs. Lawrence had lived in Dexter area most of her life. She was a member of the Risen Church in Dexter.
On December 21, 1935, she married James Arvell Lawrence in Bloomfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1998.
Surviving are one daughter, Helen Triplett of Cape Girardeau; one granddaughter, Kathy Lambdin of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three great grandsons, Matthew Lambdin,of Jonesboro, Illinois; Eric & Aaron Lambdin both of Wolf Lake, Illinois; three great great grandchildren, Emma & Owen Lambdin of Jonesboro, Illinois; and Clara Lambdin of Wolf Lake, Illinois; two sisters, Bessie Morlan of Bloomfield, Missouri and Marian Akins of Hoover, Alabama. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, John Harper; and five sisters, Madge Eaton, Mildred Hutchinson, Hattie Nottingham, Blanche Avery, Edna Hellman.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 24, 2018, after 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter.
Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Wanda Keasler

Wanda Keasler, daughter of the late Ernest Van Meter Nixon and Bertha Etta Moore was born on July 1, 1921 in Kennett, Missouri and departed this life on January 22, 2018 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 96 years.
Mrs. Keasler was a homemaker and a resident of Dexter. She was of Baptist Faith.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Keasler and Doug Kilpatrick of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, one grandson, Allen Below of Parma, Missouri; also by two great-granddaughters, Bailey and Molly Below of Bloomfield, Missouri.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Cecil Claude Keasler, Larry Don Keasler, and Earnest Lynn Keasler; by one daughter, Georgia Mae Keasler; four brothers, Martin Ray Nixon, Charles Theodore Nixon, James Leonard Nixon and George David Nixon; by four sisters, Glennie Stacy, Bea Cravens, Cleo Denton, and Marie Nixon.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from noon until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.
Interment will follow at the Taylor Cemetery near Essex, Missouri.

In Memory of Robert Burge

Robert Burge, son of the late Robert Joseph Burge and Earlene Burge was born on May 10, 1943 in Ranger, Texas and departed this life on January 19, 2018 at his residence in Bloomfield, Missouri at the age of 74 years.
Mr. Burge served from August 31, 1961 until July 31, 1981 as Senior Chief of the United States Navy, serving in the Vietnam War and retired from Purolator Manufacturing in Dexter, and Chrysler Automotive. Robert achieved a masters in engineering and was a resident of Bloomfield.
On June 5, 1994 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Alsup in Chaffee, Missouri. Mrs. Burge survives of the home in Bloomfield.
Besides his wife, survives include two sons, David Burge (Rebecca) and Michael Burge; by one step-son, Richard Alsup (Kelley); by one son-in-law, Mike Jirele; one brother, Joseph Lee Burge; by two half-sisters, Jessica Stultz and Verta Starr; also by five grandchildren Zach, Ben, Josh, Alex, and Sarah.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Ann Jirele and by one half-brother, Stanley Honey.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military rites.

In Memory of Terry Wayne Hunsaker

Terry Wayne Hunsaker of Dexter, son of Larry Gene & Billie June Edwards Hunsaker, was born in Elkhorn, Michigan on August 5, 1966, and passed away at his home in Dexter on January 18, 2018, at the age of 51 years, 5 months and 13 days.
Terry had lived most of his life in Dexter. He owned and operated Hunsakers Towing & Recoverty and enjoyed fishing and Nascar racing.
Surviving are two daughters, Amanda Hunsaker of Bloomfield, Kristin Hunsaker of Dexter; his parents, Larry Gene & Billie June Hunsaker of Dexter; one grandchild; five brothers, Jeff Hunsaker of Tyronza, Arkansas, Rick Hunsaker of Essex, Mark Hunsaker of Perryville, Bob Hunsaker of Flint, Michigan, Dan Hunsaker of West Plains; three sisters, Charlotte Hunsaker of DuBois, Pennsylvania, Brenda Alcoser of Live Oak, Texas, and Lorie Hunsaker of Poplar Bluff. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Ash.
Friends may call on Monday, January 22, 2018, after 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter until time for the services at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Tim Russell of Dexter officiating.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
